Touching comments from the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Bring Kleenex, not a dry eye up at the podium.
That was hard to watch, but well said by everyone. Man, to see one of the more stern, older hockey management figures in Waddell on the brink of bawling the entire time really hit me.
Thank you for sharing. I'm sad again. Why does this have to happen to such kind people, such a good family? People who can touch people and make such an impact by just being them? Hate this so, so much.

One memory of Johnny that I have is during his rookie season playing with Hudler and Monahan. Does anyone remember the clip taken during practice where they were coming off the ice, with Hudler leading the way to the bench, and Johnny was following Hudler and mimicking what he was doing? He ended it with the 'put the sword away' stick manoeuvre, and I vaguely recall that Monahan and him started giggling afterwards, with Hudler being none the wiser. Searched for that clip online to post, but I couldn't find it.

The Gudbranson segment was crushing for me- funny, but crushing. When a guy that tough is that emotional... wow.

meanwhile....walking to the casino on the opposite side of the street from me there was a group of scum chanting go oilers go. confirming exactly why I hate that entire city, team, and all of their fans with a passion. complete losers.
For what it is worth I live in Edmonton and know a lot of Oilers fans and everyone I have talked to has been nothing but class. Every sports talk show people have called in to offer condolences to the Gaudreau family and those impacted by the loss of John, including the Flames organization. What you saw was a bunch of drunk #######s.

I was having a coffee with my girlfriend the other day and an Oilers fan walked by and tipped his hat and that was the weirdest feeling ever.
