Hes Carl Hagelin. Hagelin's best season was 17+18 for 35 in 82 games. Imo that's max potential.

I think these players should probably be ranked higher than where they appear on most lists (using Bingo's list as a reference):
Sebastian Cossa (26th): 6'5 goalie with 94.1% in WHL
Logan Stankoven (28th): 10 points in 6 WHL games
Sasha Pastujov (29th): 26 points in 18 USHL games, young player.
Ayrton Martino (39th): 56 points in 28 USHL games, possibly the fastest skater in the draft. My favorite player in the draft.
Coronato, Morrow, and Zellweger might be in the same boat. Edit: Svechkov too.
I think I would rather have two of these guys than one of Sillinger, Lucius, Lambos, Raty, McTavish, etc.
It's possible to draft Sillinger at 12, then Zellweger with the 2nd pick. But if you want Stankoven + Pastujov, you'd likely have to trade down and get two late 1sts.

The nicknames alone are worth trading down for: “Stank Oven” and “Sasha Pasta”.

He has way more potential than Hagelin had. I am glad you are so sure you can predict the future to say you will eat a cow flop if you are wrong.

I always appreciate a good, specific, bold, hot take like this.
But it would be nice to get some insight on your reasoning.
Carl Hagelin has done a lot of winning in his career, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. But he's never had more than 38 points, and you'd want a bit more from someone taken 12 OA.

You might want more than 38 but forwards taken in and around that position are pretty hit and miss. You get some Domis or Schwartz’s. You get some Grigorenkos and Baertchis. In 2014 from 10 on you get meh players like Ritchie, Perlini, Fabbri, Schmaltz, you get good picks like Fiala, Larkin, Tuch or you get Sonny Milano or Julius Honka.

The more I read about draft , I really hope flames trade up. This is probably their best chance to get into top 10 in the next couple years , considering a rebuild is probably not in the cards . Really want the flames to have a chance at Kent Johnson , mctavish, Clarke , evidsonn or Eklund .

McTavish is at 11 in the consensus.

Okay but I would still trade up if flames don’t think he is available at 12. I would take mctavish plus a 3rd/ 2nd over Lucius and Sillinger. Not to mention all the other players I mentioned in my prior post. Granted I’m not as high on Lucius or Sillinger as some of you.

Plenty of preferences all around and can't really fault any of them.
For me the preferences roll out like this:
1. Johnson
2. Lysell
3. Lucius
4. Raty
5. McTavish
6. Available d man who fell into pick 12 (Edvinsson for the most part.
7. Wallstedt
8. Svechkov
9. Coronoto
10. Sillinger.
Is there really a wrong pick here? Flames have a big window here and it all look pretty good.
I mean of the list I just shared 3 out of those 10 will likely be gone and I can't help but be happy with any of them after that really. All of them have their warts, some bigger than others. But a pretty solid crop of prospects to make a pick from.
I really like the RHS fws there.

I don’t see how? Almost every mock draft I have seen has the goalie going in top 11.

I was responding to the idea that Cossa goes top ten too. I've read the Kings, Sharks and Hawks all want a goalie. Like I can see Detroit going Wallstedt too. Which forces one of the other 3 teams to push Cossa in.
Thats one more skater being pushed down to the Flames range. That's it.

This may be one of those drafts where you are picking on need instead of BPA because of how wide open this draft is.

I think this draft isn’t going to go at all how we expect it to. There’s gonna be a whole lotta risers and a whole lotta fallers.

RHD Owen Murray,5'10"181lbs (Green Bay,USHL): 35gp/3g/13a/16pts,4PIM. Originally from Manitoba, Murray plays with passion, and is a favorite of his coaches. He plays behind a few vets though, so he doesn't always get the best ice-time, or opportunity. With Murray, there's never a lack of effort, he's never too fancy, and he's always reliable. Modern day defenseman, with speed, good puck skills, and helpful in transition. Controls pace and flow, and is the main guy for the Gamblers to start the breakout, with his smart decisions in passing, or by himself. He can make clean, controlled entries and exits.
Great feet, extremely quick acceleration, and powerful stride, he plays with pace. Strong lateral movement and backwards skating, both giving him excellent gap control. High-end edges, strong mechanics, and very elusive-he can change speed or direction quickly. High-end awareness, and because of his efforts, he seems to play up ice most of the time. Anticipates at an elite level, and at high-speed. Saavy and shifty, he doesn't commit too far forward in the play, he doesn't make bad pinches, and he knows when to take measured risks. Smooth, accurate passer who can dish in full flight. Holds the line well, keeping play in the offensive zone and finds the soft spots to pass or shoot. Good stick in battle, breaking up passes without telegraphing his intent. Handles the puck skillfully, and protects it well. His puck-control is high-end-the puck sticks to him, and is very hard to steal from him. He uses deceptive shoulder/head/hand fakes to manipulate, and deke past defenders. His shot is hard and accurate, and one of his strengths offensively is his ability to get pucks on net through traffic consistently. Defensively, he shuts down rushes, and closes gaps, applying immense pressure and forcing turnovers. Fantastic positioning to supress chances against-he's a pest defensively, and is always there in his opponents faces blocking passes, and utilizing both physical, and stick pressure.
Murray needs to get stronger, and keep building his offense, but he has a very high ceiling. He's committed to the University of Massachusetts-Amherst for next year. 4th-6th rounds.

LHD Carter Schade,5'11"196lbs (Lincoln,USHL): 52gp/2g/14a/16pts,38PIM. Selected 1st overall in the 2019 USHL Draft. Dependable two-way player who plays with bite. All-situations minute-muncher, who is underrated as an attacker. Plays behind some vets on a very low-scoring team, which has eaten into his numbers. Fluid agility and footwork, with good straight-line burst. Nice edges and acceleration.
Schade likes to initiate contact-he throws hard open-ice hits to separate man from puck. Makes impactful hits, and likes to make his impression felt. He doesn't back down to anyone, even much larger players. Impressive shooter with a heavy, quick shot from the point, and an accurate wrister that he unfortunately doesn't use enough. Great puckhandling, and a strong stick that he uses to take away lanes, and has a quick, deceptive pokecheck. Great poise and puck-moving ability, and makes smart, simple passes consistently-even under presure. He can rush the puck and create offense for his team. Shows the ability to transition through all 3 zones with control by himself, or by finding teammates in the neutral zone with clean breakout passes. Outstanding vision, he likes to join the rush and contribute. He usually knows when it's safe to pinch, and shows patience in waiting for spots to open for a pass, rather than forcing things.
Schade is a defense-first player, and like to aggressively pinch up to eliminate the rush before it begins, to eliminate space and close the gap, with his stick or a stiff check. Great gap control and defensive awareness-breaks up passes and blocks shots. Boxes attackers out to low danger, battles hard along the wall, and clears the front of his net. Good PKer, knows how to effectively take away time and space. Schade needs to use his shot a lot more, and keep building his strength and skating. He can sometimes pinch too far or too soon, leaving the play behind him and his team down a man, so managing his choices, and working on his decision-making is a must. Plenty of NHL attributes here, and a throwback player. He has an excellent offensive game, but not the numbers to match yet, as the team he plays for struggles to score-so his totals don't match his ability or his potential. 5th/6th round.
