I don't think they actually wanted Nurse IN ADDITION to the three picks. The way I read it, they just wanted to have him as a part of a deal for Hamilton instead of picks only.
Quote:
According to Joe Haggerty of Comcast Sportsnet, the Oilers offered the Bruins three picks (No. 16, No. 33 and No. 57 in 2015 NHL Draft) for Hamilton. The Bruins, however, wanted defensive prospect Darnell Nurse included as part of a package. Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli, who was fired by the Bruins in April, didn’t want to let Nurse go.

it's obvious they wanted more from Chiarelli than Calgary and other teams. We can only speculate why that was - probably a combination of Chiarelli being their ex GM and the certainty of an Oilers offer sheet for Hamilton on July 1st. Whatever it was, I will forever be thankful to Don Sweeney for it.

I think Claude was a big part of Dougie wanting out. Was just too hard on the kid with one hand and gave the vets little accountability with the other. Leads me to believe his play will jump several notches under Hartley's care - he treats his players like family so Dougie will be motivated and can learn. I think he really wants to play for a coach that is so unanimously respected by both the players and senior brass.
Plus, he's got super-athlete genes. Once Ryan Van Asten works him over a bit he'll turn into a monster.

You're thinking of the wrong slim Jim.
The Legend of Lack (tm) is closely related to Jim Svenning.
