'Intactivists' to San Francisco: Ban circumcision

My thoughts:

1. I don't believe for a second that it "doesn't hurt that much." Babies aren't immune to pain. My guess is it hurts approximately as much as it would if it happened to an adult. Which means yes--it hurts. A lot. If you're going to have it done to your son, it should be with anesthetics.
2. I also don't believe there's any significant benefit to it. There may be some negative effects, but those are hard to measure because most guys have only one wang--so how do you measure things like sexual sensitivity? The other arguments for it are, frankly, silly.
3. However, it's also a bit odious to compare it to female genital mutilation (which I refuse to call "circumcision." Genital mutilation of females causes them a lifetime of pain and makes it impossible for them to enjoy sex. Male circumcision is probably pointless and causes needless temporary pain in infants. Let's not pretend that these are in the same category.

While I am still a number of years away from starting a family, my thoughts is similar to how I would raise my kids with respect to religion, I'll give my son the choice
If I had a choice, I would have liked to not have it done to me, but I hold no ill will towards my parents.
I don't believe it's painless, as I have talk to nurses who performed the procedure. I don't have any religious linkage to having it done. I don't think the evidence is strong that there is a health advantage to it being done. In my opinion, it's a procedure based on tradition, the thought that everyone does it, and in some cases, aesthetics purposes. With that in mind then, I think it is the most fair to my son that he make his own choice on to whether to get it done or not, when he is of age to make such a decision.

If I have boys I'll get them done. The chicks I've been with said they prefer it. Its never harmed me, if anything it might make you last longer during sex.

Doctors dont perform this ritual anymore - do they? I know you cant get it done right after birth like the old day's. We chose to leave my son's intact, which seems to be the majority now. The helmet loving women obviously havent had sex with both kinds because I read that the foreskin actually acts as a glide which makes for a much more natural stroke inside the women! Maybe some ladies or I guess men who have experienced both inside could make a better case for it?

Instead of outlawing it altogether, why not require that anesthetic be used? I'm not seeing a lot of traumatized adult males yearning for their foreskin out there, but I also think subjecting an infant to intense pain when you don't have to is the definition of barbaric.

I don't think this is a good idea. I'm sure there are potential risks with using an anesthetic on newborns (or anyone for that matter) - especially to fix something that isn't broken.

Most foreskins retract during erection, so what is the difference?

For those claiming that girls like it better one way or the other, I'm pretty sure if you were with a chick that liked you and had a 90 degree left bend in it, she'd tell you she likes it best that way.
