At this point I'm fearing the thread is going to devolve into a number of self-taken dick shots with everyone claiming theirs is prettiest.

Like seriously...advocating CUTTING OFF part of a child's PENIS? WTF is wrong with you people?
In any non-medical case, it is morally reprehensible and akin to child abuse as far as I'm concerned. End of story.
|
From what I can recall, you also think that omitting an Oxford comma is morally reprehensible. . . .

I thought of the "won't it be odd if I am and my son isn't?" thing. Then my wife made a good point and asked me how many times growing up did I see my dads business? He's going to see other kids in the change rooms a hell of a lot more than he'll see mine. If he does notice I'm totally making fun of his though. That thing is strange looking ... it's like he has a little trunk.
I knew a guy in high school who was just never told that he had to pull back and clean it. By the time he was 18 and having sex whenever the skin would roll back it would be excruciating. All things considered once he figured it out the problem went away. Resilient units.

I don't know, there is some crazy stuff going on in Europe and England. There are some major movements playing out against all different types of people with some old school rhetoric getting dusted off.

I hold no grudges against my parents for my having the procedure done.
It never even occured to me.
After reading this thread though, it won't be long until there is a San Fran based class action against the doctors who perform this surgery, or the respective religious institutions who also endorse the behaviour. It won't, and shouldn't win, but someone will try it.
leave it to the parents, pay more attention to your own kids, leave everyone else alone.

Same goes for the parents that want their daughters circumcised right?

Curious as to your line of reasoning though. Why shouldn't those potential lawsuits win? Why would they be wrong to bring about these potential complaints?

This is the kind of anarcho-libertarianism that leads to exploitation, oppression and marginalization of peoples.
It is a fundamental mark of a progressive society to purposively remove some rights of people in order to preserve the most important of rights.
In other words, society falls apart when people are able to do what they want.
So no, I`m not going to leave everyone else alone, because it is not in my (or your) interests for me to do so.

My brother is 22 months older than me, he had it done and I didn't. Never cared to ask my parents why.

Where is that member from a few years ago who didn't know if he'd been cut or not?

Geez. Did this kid ride the short bus as well? Pretty sure I never had to read a manual about how to shower. Take soap, clean whole body.
As for this debate, I don't get why people are getting so riled up. If you don't believe in chopping, then don't do it to your kids. My parents got me done, and I harbour no ill will. From what the ladies have told me, I'm kinda glad. If I ever have a son, I don't know if I'll get him done. If every kid is getting it done, I might as well help him fit in and get him done, and vice versa.
You hoodies that are so vehemently against it don't know what you're talking about. It's no big deal. Sex still feels good for us helmets. There's just a little less cleaning involved when showering. Easy on the drama. It's not like Edward Scissorhands is giving your son a handjob.
