or The person who is doing 40 in a 50 zone. Then they continue to drive 40 through the play-ground zone. I suppose they only have one speed.

They scare me the most. To inattentive to notice they're speeding in a playground zone, and too inattentive to notice they're going 10 under on a regular road.

Sorry about your need for speed, but as long as I am doing 5 over the limit don't expect me to move for you.

Who gives a crap? You're breaking the law. What if someone decides to go 10 over? They're a nasty speeder, but you're doing just fine at the illegal speed that you've deemed to be "okay"? Give me a break. You're delusional, just right out to lunch.

Getting out of the way of faster moving traffic if you're in the LH lane is kind of like holding a door open when you enter/exit a store.
In my books you're an a-hole if you don't do it.

Do you leave your left turn indicator on as well?

The left lane isn't for speeding, it's for passing. So if you're not passing someone, stay in the right lane.

I can 100% agree with this.
Now if you all can agree that the left lane was not designed as a speeding lane, we can all agree!

Who cares. The whole point is it's not really anyone's business. If someone wants to go faster than you, then you get out of the left lane.

"i" will agree with the ######ed logic presented.
The left lane is designed for identical traffic flow. The signs saying Slower Traffic Keep Right are only intended to be heeded on Sunday mornings/or funeral-times, as no proper citizen would be on the roads during the lawless rush hours.

The left lane is for speeding though. This isn't 1965 Calgary where traffic allows you to speed in the right lane.
Any time I'm on Deerfoot I stay in the left lane because if I use the right lane for passing I'd be weaving in and out of traffic.
If you're doing the speed limit get the hell outta my way. I'm DUI hardly ever caught sober.

It seems like you are the type of person that would block me from getting home sooner by going the absolute limit in the left lane.
Some good stuff from http://www.slowertraffickeepright.com/
Quote:
Show courtesy to the guy behind you who wants to go faster.
Courtesy is two way. Suppose you just moved into the left lane to pass some slow vehicle in the right lane. Don't take all day to pass it while cars are accumulating behind you. If you only want to go 1 m.p.h. faster than that slow vehicle consider going 3 m.p.h. faster while you are doing the passing. You will only be going 2 m.p.h. faster than you want for a little while and you will be passing in 1/3 the time. Remember that milliseconds can add up to gridlock.
Realize that it is not your job to keep people from speeding.
Try not to let emotions control your driving behavior. Consider that the speeder is making the roads safer for the rest of us. What is the bigger risk while driving on the highway - wrecking or getting a speeding ticket? There are more speeding tickets than wrecks so our biggest worry should be avoiding a speeding ticket. By letting the speeder get ahead of you then that person will get the ticket and you won't.

I have to say all these rules seem to promote the same thing; cutting down on the time for speeders on the road. What should I care if someone wants to go 10, 15, 20 above the limit? I should actively get out of their way so they can speed? I'm not saying I drive like a dick in the left lane and hold up 20 cars behind me... but why should I care if someone wants to blow past me doing 70 on a 50 road?...

Who ever said the Slower in "Slower Traffic Keep Right" means slower than the speed limit, give me a break.
Yes, I understand that we are all expected to not go over the speed limit on the road. But do I? Yes. Yes I speed, but I'm sure quite a bit of people here do, just because you're doing 1km/h over the speed limit doesn't mean you're not speeding.
The slower traffic keep right sign is for every one who is driving SLOWER than the person behind them, not slower than the speed limit.

Let's say I'm a police officer watching all this unfold. There's a row of cars going 70 in a 50 zone, then you wanted to pass someone that was doing 45 in the right lane. You pull into the left doing 50 and you stay there and the people doing 70 are coming up behind you.
If you were to move over, I'd give the guy doing 70 in a 50 zone a ticket because he was speeding.
However, if you stayed in the left after you'd pass and the line doing 70 approaches you and has to slow down because you refuse to move. I'd give both you and the people doing 70 a ticket.
You for obstructing the flow of traffic and the other guys for speeding.
I guess this is a pretty good reason why I'm not a police officer.

When someone's tailgating me, it feels unsafe--especially on a high speed road or in packed traffic. You're god damn right I am going to slow down so they either pass me or get the message that I don't like it.
