Since I use the yanks the only time my bullpen gets use is when I get lit up or Andy P. is pitching. I like to sit his old butt about the 6 and 2/3rds mark. CC goes all the way and I have Joba in the pen. Randy Winn is a hitting machine. Posada is 2nd in the league in HR's and I got an Inside the park home run with A-Rod today.
Another Thing that helps me is ever time I guess the pitch I guess either Curveball or Slider. That away if I'm right then I know what it is and if I'm wrong most likely it will be a FB.

Well I've had a heck of a time trying to get better in the RTTS. I am a 3B and got drafted by the Yanks. Have been batting about .180 and anything I hit goes right to the fielder sadly. So I started using Guess the Pitch, I pick fastball and upper part of the plate (meat pitch). If it doesn't trigger the correct guess then I know I'm likely looking at a soft pitch so I ease off the swing button. It's helped a lot to move up the count. I hit my first homerun, almost hit the cycle, my batting average as of late is .270 and will likely keep going up.
Anyone having a tough time, try it out and hopefully it works for you.

So I am playing a Jays/Braves franchise. I am playing the first few games and then will play about every 3rd after the first couple series. Anyway, win with the Jays 9-1 first game and 7-6 with the Braves on a walk-off 3 run HR with my created SS version of me (my sonn to be 3 year old is the Jays starting C ).
So I lose 13-5 with the Jays the 2nd game and then lose the Braves 2nd game 19-2!
The remarkable thing about being taken out to the woodshed by the Cubs with the Braves was that two MLB records were tied. One was the Cubs hit 10HR against me tying the Blue Jays record, the second record was Derrick Lee hitting 4 HR against me.
I just started the 3rd game with the Jays and currently lead 10-1 after 4.
I would find this frustrating but before the roster fix of the potential bug, I had played 6 or 7 games of a Braves 'chise and was having close and even low scoring games on the exact same setting, so I am sure this is just a weird stretch of games.

I downloaded the most popular set of sliders when I first got the game, and have done a little fine tuning and think I got it where I want it. Usually 1-2 home runs a game now, but was having 5-6 on a regular basis before the slider tweak. I turned down the power on both cpu and user, as well as one tweak to the left for the cpu on the (solid contact I believe), as I found they were hitting rods all over the field. Seems to play quite well and usually in the 6-4, 5-2 region, with the exception of a few blow outs. Really like how the game plays thus far.
EDIT: Forgot to add, that the warm-up pitches do in fact increase your effectiveness, regardless of how warm your bullpen arm is.

In my season mode, with the Jays, Randy Ruiz has 10 homers in April alone... yes it's on rookie, but everyone else on my team seems to bat normally.
Weird, and weirdly awesome!

I am in my 2nd season in RTTS, got called up the big club(D'Backs). Just got my first HR. Too bad we still lost 17-10. I don't know if I get to make the playoffs because don't you have to be on the 25 man roster to do so?
As for hitting, I have a slider adjustment, plus I just practiced a bunch.
Graphics are amazing.

Do not quote me on this, but from what I recall, the teams submit rosters before the start of each postseason series.
This game is so realistic, VW bounces into double plays and pops to short like nobody I know.

haha, that is weird.
For me it's John Buck. 4 dingers in 6 games off some pretty dang good pitching. Only Lind has shown as much raw power for me on the Jays in my very limited playing time so far. I thought Wells, Encarnacion, Snider and Hill would be the ones hitting all the long balls.
It's probably just a statistical anomaly, but hey... who knew?

IIRC, the pro team can move up to a 40 team roster in the last 2 months or so, for the post season stretch, but once the playoffs start, the roster shrinks back down...
At least i was a victim of this in 09

Just a few neat little things I have noticed (both good and bad) when playing this game, as this is the first time playing The Show franchise....
THE GOOD:
-They actually have real roster players and the bodies sitting on the bench throughout the game. Don't remember that during the 2k series.
-US Cellular Field, all first pitches are at 7:11 (from what I've seen thus far). Pretty cool, because as a White Sox homer a few years ago, 7-11 confectionary stores did some sponsoring to get this implemented.
-Finally climbed the wall robbing a home run, holy hell it took a long time.
-Vernon Wells is as bad as in real life.
THE BAD:
-With a runner on second, the cpu hit a ground ball that would have ended the inning (tied game in the 9th), ball hits the runner, scoots to the outfield and the runner isn't called out, runs scores - I lose.
-A few times my corner infielders will be at the ball on a ground ball, and stand there not bending over to make the play, ball skips to the outfield wall and another controller loses its life because of it.
-A passed ball walk, and I am not able to take control on my runner to get the second. Some fields the backstops are far enough back, it would be worth taking a chance to nab second base.
Anyways, not nit-picking, just thought I would share some quirks I have found after playing a bit. What's yours?

This is a bit OT but would anybody with a PS3 version of this game be willing to sell? I'm looking to pick it up, just not a big enough baseball fan to warrant the $60 price tag.

Just made another rtts with myself as a SP again...
Gave myself the following pitches: 4sfb, sink, spilt, cut, rfb. Crazy.
Previously my main rtts guy had 4sfb, sink, curve, change, screw.
I just don't know what the right of pitches is, since it's a video game.

I'd go with a four seamer, a curve, slider, two seamer, and a change-up.
Or maybe just use four pitches and drop the slider...but that's just my take on it.

I hear what you're saying, Berger. I'd probably go with 4SFB, SLDR, CHNG, CUT, SLRV. I personally think the slider is a useless (ie. dangerous in a bad way) pitch to have in the arsenal unless it's really good... worse than top 2 and I personally think it's apt to do more harm than good. I find that if I leave a hanging slider anywhere near the middle of the plate, it's almost always crushed. Other pitches... maybe, maybe not.
The cutter can be a great tool when guys start timing up the four-seamer -- as long as you keep it down in the zone. The slurve is a beauty of a "once every 2 innings or so" pitch that is likely to catch them completely off guard.
When hitting, I find the toughest pitch combo to be a 95+mph fastball, a 85-90mph slider with good lateral movement, and a 75-80mph straight change that dives down. Those three pitches alone give me a lot of problems, especially if the pitcher can spot them on the corners.
[Needless to say, I can understand why Randy Johnson was so dominating in his day ... especially to lefties. The prospect of hitting off him at all is nuts, let alone hitting him "well".]

Not the one...

My '08 rtts pitcher had: Sinker, Cutter, Palmball, and a horrible sweeping curve ball. RH, I excelled in the minors as a closer but flamed out in the show and retired early to go into porn.

I am still playing the hell outta this game (well as much as a 33 year old married guy with two kids under age 3 can play anyway) and loving it.
Last night finished up a game with the Jays and heard the PA announcer announce all of the extra public transit routes home which had the proper street and station names right down to Queen's Quay... so awesome.
