So being as all the liberal baby boomers you know are into it, I take it Idaho will be electing all Dems this election to carry on his work? If you are from Idaho you know exactly the people I am talking about. Elections are won by both getting your people out to vote and to get the independents. The Daily show gig will likely get his people but do you think the independents watch it or the regular news outlets?
Idaho will likely elect one Democrat and one Republican in the House. The Democrat, Walt Minnick, will be elected due to extreme incompetence of the Republican Party in one of the most conservative districts in the nation.

There are not very many independents in Idaho, or anywhere for that matter.
There are plenty of people that claim independence but side the same way almost every time, except in extreme circumstances. Yes, this will encourage the baby boomers to go and hold their nose while voting for Minnick in Idaho and will boost the number of college kids in Latah County who go vote for Minnick.

The independent middle America reasonably discussing and deciding who to vote for is largely a myth. Any true moderates on the political spectrum should be counted with the Democrats. The Republican Party is extremely corrupt, radically right wing, and completely unreasonable. Their base is the uninformed and the extreme social conservatives.

Obama isn't going to convince any of them by going on Face the Nation or the like. Anyway, I'd wager any Meet the Press or Face the Nation viewer is very likely to vote Democratic (or more likely, not vote at all). The Republican Party is far too absurd for any informed and objective viewer to take seriously.

Anyone watch the Daily Show tonight? It seriously seemed like Jon Stewart didn't know Harrison Ford was going to be on the show. I don't even think that qualified as an interview.

I watched it, can't say I agree with you at all.

Stewart also mentioned yesterday that Ford was on the show tonight.

Hey, heads up for those who like Jon Stewart (and heck, even those who don't :P). tonight, he did one of the best pieces of satire with Glenn Beck as his (favourite) target.

I thought it was brilliant on Stewart's part.

The epidode from Nov 15 was fantastic and also one of the worst I've ever seen.

The "It gets worse" parody PSA making fun of McCain was priceless. The embarrassing interview with Marian Jones was even worse than the 30 for 30 on her.

Stewart didn't ask a single real question and just let her lie like the POS she is. That dbag woman actually claimed that she didn't know she took PDAs even though she went to effing prison for lying about the fact that she did. I love Stewart but I haven't seen him roll over for a guest like that in all the years I've watched. It was disgraceful. Why he even had that cheating loser on his show is beyond me. I don't know, maybe he has no control over the guests and was told to let her spread her lies without question but I was disgusted with him for not even asking a single real question.

to me it seemed like Stewart was caught completely off guard by her saying she "didn't know" what drugs she was taking, and before he could corner her she started talking about her time in prison. no matter what you think of her, spending 6 months in prison with a lengthy stint in solitary confinement is a pretty harsh punishment for lying. we have hardcore offenders in Canada who have gotten off lighter than that

i think Stewart wanted to question her harder, but she was pretty good at playing the victim part

I think he was letting it be implied as her lying was pretty pathetic. He kept saying "I can't believe no one in your inner circle served time besides you!" And ended the video with "you're certainly... bold!" I think Stewart thought her too sad to really grill.

I won't lie I didn't even make it to the end of the interview. I didn't want to be like the guy in Wisconsin or wherever who shot his TV with a shotgun when Bristol Palin won Dancing With the Stars.

Actually she is a big deal. She has a book and has been touring the states speaking to youth, especially black youth, on making the right life decisions. Her main thesis in these speeches is that it was all her friends fault. Not that making the right life decisions is important. All she does is teach kids that lying and passing the buck will earn you a book deal.

That's like letting the Eliott Spizter, Larry Craig and John Edwards preach to schools on the dangers of infidelity.

Great skit tonight. Can't believe people even compare Glenn Beck to Keith Olbermann. Beck is on a whole different level of moron.

just watched Thursday's Colbert Report, and that was one of my favorite interviews i've seen him do. it's rare that he has a guest where he drops character and does a serious interview, but i kinda wish Colbert would do it more often. was awesome hearing that medal of honor recipient speak and come across as completely selfless

You probably saw this video in the picture/video thread, but here it is again, Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta's story:

so once again, sadly, The Daily Show proves that it is one of the only real news outlets left in the American media

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_theloo...-on-daily-show

i just finished watching Thursday's show, and it left me feeling disgusted. i'm not even American yet i can't believe how little reaction this whole story has been getting. the republicans and Fox News bang the 9/11 drum so hard when they're near an election, but when it comes time to actually help those directly involved they're completely silent? how can Obama trying to give healthcare to everyone evoke such vitriolic outrage from the right, but a 9/11 first responders bill being shut down because of tax breaks for the rich gets nary second glance?

i'm left stunned at how stupid the Democrats and MSNBC are over this matter as well. if it were the dems holding up the same bill, guaranteed Fox News would be all over it whipping their base into a frenzy. yet when the Democrats are given such a political golden egg which they could use to hammer the Republicans with, they can't be bothered? American media is in a sad state of affairs when browsing CNN i can't even find a single mention of this whole saga, yet some woman giving birth at home is the top story

Okay I can't be the only one who noticed this that watches Colbert...this was from his last interview of the week, talking to a Wikileaks reporter. I've never noticed anything like this before on his show so it caught my eye. At first I thought I was going crazy because it happened so quickly but I went back and looked...It was just a quick flash of the mask overlaying his face.

It's the mask from V for Vendetta:

Yeah, it's a Guy Fawkes mask... the reason they put it in there is because the Anonymus people frequently use that mask in their communications and public appearances.

That's an interesting story (that's been mostly ignored by the MSM) I've been following it since it broke. Wired Magazine and ARS Tech have some pretty good rundown on it just search for "HBGary Anonymus".

Ya I knew it was his mask as well. I just wasn't sure if Colbert Report did it, or if someone (like a hacker) did it for them. I figure it was him but just caught me off guard.
