Also I have a Mac tower and you can upgrade everything, I guess maybe with and imac it would be tougher (still doable), but the towers conveniently slides each section out so you can upgrade it.

I know, you don't play games. Good thing you bought that mac to check email and surf porn.

Just imagine the porn you could watch with a 27" IPS screen with LED back-lighting and a 2560 x 1440 resolution.

I don't know what this means. Macs can boot directly into Windows just like a PC can.
There isn't a single game on the planet that can't be played on a Mac.

Wait, what was your point, again?
Thanks for reminding me about a time in my life when I overspent and had to take a pretty embarrassing hit in order to (quickly) catch up on a couple of unexpected payments by the way. Much appreciated, for sure.

I just found it interesting that as a rah rah macguy you would buy a $2300 pc.

How am I not shutting up about the monitors? One person tried to actually do what I asked, which was built an equivalent-spec PC for less than an iMac. He barely got under the price, but he had to do it using American prices for everything, and skimping out on a lower quality monitor.
I can already tell by how petty you guys have gotten that I've more than proved my point.
And now, I'm off to class!

Yeah, I think that's the thing people seem to not get about me. I'm not anti-PC at all. I'm just anti-low quality.

You keep thinking that, champ.
You made some decent points and counter-points but ignored a lot of stuff you just simply couldn't refute. In the end the thread went from a semi-serious discussion to just pissing around and making a couple lame jokes.

So what's the point of buying a mac then if you're just going to make it act like a PC??

Are you really? I get the feeling that you haven't really changed anyone's mind at all throughout this thread. And it's not you specifically either, this thread, on both sides, just seems to be preaching to the choir.
It's a pretty interesting phenomenon, and I'm not really sure how it happened, but the marketing companies of huge corporations have somehow managed to turn their purchase of their products into some kind of religious war between their customers. People have gone past thinking of computers as tools and instead think of them as some sort of lifestyle choice or even an extension of their personality. I don't know the reason for this, perhaps its because they're now so ubiquitous throughout society or we spend so much time on them, but I can't imagine something similar happening with Panasonic vs. Sony in the television market, for example.
If you ask me, it's really stupid. What ever happened to the common sense approach of buying the right tool for the right job? If you're a gamer, buy a PC. If you work a lot with graphics, buy a Mac. If you're just checking email and surfing the web, buy a netbook.
I think people who assume one platform is always better than the other, are seriously diluting themselves and arguing as such is why these threads never go anywhere. People need to realize a computer is just a tool.

Holy crow.
The nerd bomb sure blew up in this thread.
Comparing PC vs. Mac hardware performance to price, in a serious jest.

To me that's the only thing that's annoying.
Computers are tools to do things with. But, not anymroe. They are now about lifestyle, design, statements rolled into brands.
I'm generally disgusted by most brands and therefore I get annoyed with the incessant love for a manufacturer of computers.
There are literally no differences between major manufacturers of computers on the 'getting things done' end of things. The only differences are these ultimately trivial and baseless ideas that only branding can manufacture. Nowhere is it more moronic than in personal computing.

Don't even get these guys started on Star Wars vs Star Trek.

ok, now you are just being a ######. i got the american prices because i am american. and i even went and got an american price on your imac. the difference was still like $500.
i found a monitor with an IPS panel on dell.com for around the $400 i quoted. its only 23" so i guess thats still not good enough for you.

Lol, what an epic thread. Can you imagine if people put this much effort into their jobs?
PS, decision goes to FanIn80. He's addressed every comment made disproved it. And he's right about PC users throwing the 'overpriced' accusations out there. Just not true anymore for hardware of the same quality.
