International players can make domestic players better with a good manager. ManU is a good example of young English players blending in with international superstars. Also in other leagues like Germany, Italy and Spain the majority of the teams are still local. A situation like Arsenal where the manager totally disregards the domestic player is quite rare.

If I were a Scottish player, I may be tempted to stay home and play in front of my fanatical fans if it were in the EPL.
I'd say that jumping in with international calibre teams would be pretty certain to result in the importing of overseas talent. Currently there are games in which domestic talent could be worked into the first team, and they still don't do it. Place the club in a situation where those games against Falkirk aren't on offer and I don't see how the academy players get more opportunities.

Actually, what about the possibility of Rangers and Celtic leaving an academy team in Scotland while the first team plays elsewhere? I'm not sure the academy team would be up to SPL standards, but that might temper the impact of those sides leaving. Just a random thought that popped into my head.

Just watching the AC Milan/Real Madrid game, it has some pretty awesome moments, thus far I have to say that the ref has done a pretty good job, the first 20 minutes was an absolute diving festival on both sides but he was having none of it.

The penalty against RM was pretty harsh, as the commentators said, the handball was almost certainly unintentional, but at the same time he slid in with his arm in the air and stopped the ball from going across the penalty area, so he prevented a scoring chance with his arm, so harsh call but I suppose somewhat right.

Disallowing the Pato goal, I cant for the life of me see why, but harsh one way harsh the other I guess.

On the plus side, hes allowing the physical play and hes letting the divers flounder around on the ground.

Manchester United come back from being 3-1 down after 84 minutes.
The tying goal was quite lucky, a big deflection off Valencia's shot in the .

Fairly rough game; 7 cautions and Semberas got sent off in the closing minutes.

United's defence was awful once again. Things need to change and quick.

United deserved a penalty in the first half. The official booked Fletcher for diving in the area but the defender clearly took out both of his legs. Shocking decision.

Three goals, five bookings, six substitutions in the second half.

Sounds right to me.

Football should just go to stop time and be done with it. Stop the clock when the ball is dead or out of bounds, run the clock when it's in play.

Couldn't agree more. But at least it keeps the "Prawn Sandwich Brigade" happy.

Yup ... simple math one would think ...........

I'd argue that there should have been at least another minute more played allowing for events in extra time.

Couple that with Fletcher getting booked and subsequently suspended on what was a clear penalty and yet again there is clear cut evidence of United getting jobbed by the refs again. Of course there's no route of appeal even when video evidence supports that the ref screwed them over on a decision that a butcher's dog could have got right.

About time that UEFA investigated this blatant and disgusting conspiracy against United both at a European and domestic level.

Now THAT'S funny! Who says United fans don't have a sense of humour?

Miserable season so far. Still, it's relatively early still.

At least they'll be able to concentrate on the league <choke>

What a lovely set of results from yesterday. If Barca had lost would have been even better.

Will be interesting to see how Munich come out...only interesting stuff of the day I think.

Just watched the Bayern vs Juventus match, pretty good game, but Juve just didnt have the firepower to compete. That Trezuguet strike was great, but aside from him who are they expecting to score goals.

Anyways, great game, but why does Bayern have a goalkeeper that takes Penalties?

No kidding, I really want to see the aftermath of one of his shots getting saved.

I know, theres gotta be someone else just as qualified to take those with a much smaller downside of it being saved.
