Group F is ridiculous with Barca, Dynamo Kiev and Rubin Kazan on 4 pts and Inter on 3 pts after 3 matches

Yeah no kidding, lost to a team that sounds like something off a Sushi Menu.

To change the subject a little, I think Celtic and Rangers have to somehow get into the EPL or some sort of North-Atlantic league with Scandinavia,Holland Belgium etc... They can't get better playing nobody but each other and it hurts both of them in Europe and the Scottish national team.

this milan - real madrid match has turned into a cracking game be it with some awful goaltending which is surprising with dida and casillas.

that 1st madrid goal is some of the worst goalkeeping ive seen at that level

Then there would be less and less Scots on Celtic and Rangers, and that won't help the national team either.

This would kill the Scottish domestic game. What would become of teams like Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen, Falkirk etc?

They would be Champions of Scotland?

Like it or not Celtic and Rangers will join something within 10 years or so. Either the EPL or a newly formed European Super League or something.

No, this will never happen. As long as Chelsea are kept out of the G14 there will never be a Super League in Europe.

UEFA restricts the top divisions in all leagues in Europe to 20 teams. Try to get ten Premiership clubs to vote to allow two Scottish teams in on the TV revenue. Not likely sister.

Good point, I forgot about Chelsea.

As a fan, I'd like to see them in the Premier League. Would be more fun to see teams play Rangers than someone like Burnley or Hull. Wouldn't Celtic and Rangers bring in more tv money?

Yeah, but so would AC Milan and Barcelona. You must consider the impact that putting teams from one country into another country's league would have to the domestic game. If you ran a Super League involving the top 20 teams from all over Europe, you must consider how that would make teams like Burnley and Hull feel. They are both bringing in 20,000 a match minimum at 40 pounds a pop. That's nothing to sneeze at.

What's wrong with teams like Burnley or Hull? Burnley especially play an attractive brand of football (at least at home) and have beaten many of the top sides in the Premiership this year and last year in cup competitions. I agree that losing Rangers and Celtic would hurt the Scottish national team, and I just can't see it happening in the near future.

Yeah, Burnley are this year's West Brom, at least at home, but Hull are terrible to watch. Hoof up the long ball and hope someone gets lucky. They were mauled by Fulham there on Monday.

Support has nothing to do with the make-up of the squad. If Celtic and Rangers are competing with the likes of Man United, Liverpool, Ajax etc. it would be expected that the team sign more and more international calibre players, and that is likely to be at the expense of domestic player development.

Depends on the structure of the club. Development of young Scottish players or throw loads of money at superstars around the world?
International players can make domestic players better with a good manager. ManU is a good example of young English players blending in with international superstars. Also in other leagues like Germany, Italy and Spain the majority of the teams are still local. A situation like Arsenal where the manager totally disregards the domestic player is quite rare.

If I were a Scottish player, I may be tempted to stay home and play in front of my fanatical fans if it were in the EPL.

As opposed to what they are doing now, i.e development of young players and throwing loads of money at duds from around the world.

The sad fact is that neither of the old firm has managed to produce one decent homegrown talent of any impact since Kenny Daglish.

Is it crap players or crap academies ... probably a mixture of both.
