Yeah, I was going to say you know what he doesn't even like the game or something to that effect. He may only be hitting .233 but his .901 OPS would be one of the better totals in the American League this year. Really a .373 On Base and .528 slugging is pretty remarkable for a guy who's only hitting for that average. The strikeout's are high, but for that type of power most teams can live with it.

Red Sox acquire Paul Byrd from the Indians. Basically to fill the void left by Wakefield it looks like. The AL East could be an interesting finish this year.

hmmmmm, byrd has been pitching very well of late. that makes this a very solid pickup...right now anyways. can't hurt.
CC Sabathia threw a one hitter on Sunday where he dropped a ball on a play he could have made that was ruled a hit. He's now 9-0 for the Brewers since coming over with absolutly sick numbers accross the board. IIRC Rick Sutcliffe was acquired by the Cubs from the Indians during the season in 1984 and posted like a 16-1 record to win the Cy Young. Say Sabathia wins 4 more games for the Brewers and has a 13-0 record, keeps that ERA in the 1.5 area, averages 8 innings a start in 6 more starts to get him up to 136 innings. Would that be enough to at least get him some consideration for the NY Cy Young award? I would think Tim Linecum would be the current front runner, but Sabathia in my opinion has been far and away the best pitcher in the NL since the Brewers got him.
Something else sort of interesting...two players hit for the cycle on the same day yesterday, Stephen Drew of the D-Backs and Adrian Beltre of the Mariners. So in my lifetime I got to see Fernando Valenzeula and Dave Stewart throw no hitters on the same night in 1990 IIRC, and now this. Might not see either one happen again because it is pretty rare.

First use of instant replay tonight and no surprise, A-Rod was involved. Hit was ruled a homer and took about 2 minutes to go take a look and make the call on the field.
