I had to laugh at this, from the article above:
Quote:
Johnson admitted Thursday on the NFL Network that he has "gotten out of line every now and then." But he added, "What great one doesn't? What great one is not emotional about what he does? What great one does not have passion about what he does? What great one hates losing? "Find me a great one that doesn't do the same things that I've done in the past and I'll stop playing. Period."

Marvin Harrison. There... now you can stop playing Chad.

Yeah, I hate that excuse.
I'll grant that they all hate to lose.
I won't accept that that gives them the right to push photographers or act like a jerk. Everyone has their share of bad days, Chad, while an amazing talent, also seem to have had the share of many, many players

The NFL loves players like CJ though. Yes he has a big mouth, but untill now, has he done anything that would be considered out of line? The league will fine him for his over the top TD celebrations. Yet they have no problem using him for numerous commercials on the NFL Network promoting the league and the Network. The league PR department loves Chad Johnson, Warren Sapp, Ray Lewis. Why else would they be on a commercial during every comercial break?

I'm not sure the league loves them when they start pushing media, as reported above.
Players being outspoken and "colourful", I'm sure you are correct.
Physical with media/fans, I bet the league cringes.

Washington Redskins promoted recently hired offensive coordinator Jim Zorn to head coach today.
What an opportunity.
Many oldtime Seahawks fans will remember Zorn as the team's first QB. Loved watching him.
He does have an impressive resume as a coordinator.

Heh, ya, all of 13 off season days. He's been a QB coach since he's been a coach. After the 6 weeks or so that Washington has been looking for a coach, they land on someone with zero coordinator experience and was on nobody's radar in terms of being a HC prospect.
Snyder must be jealous of how fast Al Davis is blowing up his own team.

He was offensive coordinator at Utah State for years...and their offense was prolific.

*sniff* It's nice to know that Raider fans have Redskin fans to keep them company.

Ah ok, I was looking at his pro resume. I'm not sure that coordinating in a mid major conference is good prep for pro ball. Of all people, Snyder would know that from hiring the ole ball coach.

Zorn is just keeping the seat warm for Cowher's return to coaching in 2009.

I'd think Cowher's got more sense than that. I bet he goes to college ball.

I think Cowher will be the next coach of the Carolina Panthers.

If Snyder is hiring a coach with no previous professional Head Coaching experience. He will have to show some patience. It would be unrealistic to assume an inexperienced coach will be able turn a franchise around in a short amount of time. The biggest mistake Snyder ever made, was letting Schotenhiemer go. All Marty has ever done is win. I know his playoff record is bad, but some of that can be contributed to bad luck and just better teams beating him. But every where he has gone in the NFL. He has turned his team into a winner.

Snyder runs his organization the same way that Dr. Evil does.

Sorry, I just can't see a guy that coached a historic organization going back to coach the Panthers. I know he has a home there and local ties, but I think Snyder is going to offer him an obscene amount of money after makin Zorn a patsy for another lackluster season.
I would love to see Zorn succeed, and make Campbell into a Pro Bowl QB. I just think Snyder is too impatient for that.

Dolphins release 9 players the first team to splash into the releasing market.
Among the most notable Trent Green and Marty Booker. Big Daddy Traylor, who will be missed, however he's getting old and has suggested last year was his last.

Everyone, except a few in Dolphins management, knew Trent Green was finished last year.

Sounds like the NFL is worried that the possibility of the Bills moving north is very real.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3244280
Quote:
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will join U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) at an upcoming meeting with Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson to explore ways to help keep the team in Buffalo, according to Schumer.
Wilson's decision to schedule some Bills preseason and regular-season games at Rogers Centre in Toronto, which seats 50,000, as a way to generate more revenue has led to speculation that the franchise will one day move north.
"Commissioner Goodell is committed to doing anything he and the league can to keep the Bills in Buffalo," Schumer said Wednesday after meeting with Goodell in Washington, D.C.
