Here's a beer for beer haters, I guarantee you will love it if you hate beer, go to Limerick's and order yourself a pint for dessert, it's like a strawberry smoothie:

After you've eased yourself in with these, try Brewster's Raspberry, then Wild Rose "WRaspberry" and Sleeman's Honey Brown. All of these are leaning on the fruity/sweet side and you will acquire a taste for real beer eventually as you move along the taste scale.
Holy crap that looks good!

No, I was trying to offer up advice. He has already mentioned that he doesn't like the "premium" types of beers that his friends have tried to feed him, so I am suggesting he goes with on of the top sellers in this country; without trying to spark the debate we've had here so many times about what is the best beer.

I've seen your kind all the time. People who tell their friends not to drink something- and it's a form of peer pressure. But when that pressure results in said friend either drinking something they don't like, or not going out because there's nothing to drink. And I've never understood why it matters what's in my glass when a group of people go out for drinks.

You obviously have a prefered taste for premium beers. Fine. The OP has already stated that he doesn't; which is why he is here- to find out what works for us. And my suggestions happen to be a couple of the top selling beers. Perhaps they are top selling partially because they appeal to wide range of people.

I'd be curious to hear what type of non-premium beer you would suggest; or given his distastes what beers with dissimilar tastes you would recommend.

Does it matter what clothes you wear when you go out for drinks? Beer is the same way. Ignoring taste completely, beer has an "image". It doesn't matter what you like to drink, but whatever you choose, people will judge you on it.

How dare you let them in on "THE SECRET". Surfers just don't do that. Nicaragua has some great rum. and hot women. Fluer de cana is very smooth. also try it with a twist of fresh lime. Its strange that you can get the Nicaraguan rum in Calgary, but I have yet to find Costa Rican - Ron Centinario. Also great rum if you can find it. Good call surferguy

Madman's advice is good: If you spend lots of time in bars, years from now you'll realize it was time wasted. Spend your time with more wholesome pursuits.
