I was thinking the same thing, Jiri....One of the best ones I have seen this season. Loved the side plot where Harriette couldn't tell a joke. that was awesome.

This show, along with Heroes, is one of the better written new shows of the year in that it doesn't spoon feed the audience at a pace slower than molasses obvious jokes that they've heard over and over again. Its rapid-fire back and forth banter are reminiscent of the early years of the West Wing and they expect the audience that would like this show to be able to keep up with it.
While I agree they have been a little preachy thru the first episodes but mainly so they can establish the characters' baselines and the show's own ethos. Frankly, I loved nothing more than the 2 epi arc with John Goodman where they got smacked by the law for being so self-righteous about not being a part of the christian right.
Matthew Perry is a huge part of why the show is worth watching - he and the fellow who play Danny are excellent together and have a real chemistry and I think they are developing a nice relationship between him and Harriet too.
This show is very much like Jordan's "United Nations" show to me - not something that will necessarily have a lot of mass appeal but something that will have a core audience and loyal following because it's smart and there's not enough smart out there to compete with all the American Idols & Jerry Springers.

Yup see above link!

Looks like we will get at least one whole year before they try and yank the rug out from underneath the show...

Well I think this show is finally finding its stride. Last night's episod was another solid effort. I had seen the promos and was worried it was going to be an uber-schmaltzy Xmas episode - but they pulled it off very well. The interplay between Matt and Danny has grown to be very reminiscent of Dan/Casey from Sportsnight.

Yeah the last couple have been pretty decent. The Goodman ones in particular were good as well as the last two weeks. They almost lost me though. I was getting bored.

Great New Orleans tribute . . . . Cheese would have loved sitting around the writers table debating Christmas.

It was funny they all spent two days sitting around on the internet finding sites debunking the historical significance of Christmas.

Easily best episode yet - not preechy and the rant about the FTC was both awsome and totally required about those windbags.

I must have missed something, is Jordan's kid sperm donor the West Wing dude? I wasnt sure who it was until the marriage proposal and even know I am still not convinced.

It was the insurance guy who leaked the drug test results to Jordan. An ex boyfriend of her's.

It hasn't been cancelled as far as I know. They've been given a full season so far of 22 episodes. After that, who knows?

The argument in favor of Studio 60 is that it attracts a small audience, but one that is attractive to advertisers because they are in the key demographics and have money to spend.

Hopefully that's enough to get it and another great show struggling in the ratings (Friday Night Lights) another season.

I thought it was improbable and preachy that a live feed with the word "frack" uttered by a soldier - not a reporter - during an unexpected actual RPG attack would be the subject of a fine by the FCC.

Studio 60 is guilty of being pretentious as its critics suggest . . . . but more than makes up for it everywhere else.

I agree, one of the best episodes of the year. The script writing on this show always seems to amaze me time after time. How bout that FCC rant?

The plot is heating up forsure, should be a good next few episodes.

Well, I liked this show from the beginning, but I lost track of it the last couple episodes. Last one I saw was, I guess, the first episode with John Goodman, who I absolutely love. Looks like I lost it right when it was starting to really hit its stride. I have a couple of the episodes on my computer though so I am trying to catch up. I am hoping they have done or will do something with the Harriet character. I just haven't been able to enjoy that character at all.

Showing her in a bra and nearly naked a couple of times in the past few weeks has helped pick up my interest in her considerably.

Its not a fine per say, I think its the same thing that happened with CBS news - they were to be fined or take a 5 second delay - I think CBS either settled out of court or its still on going.

I am surprised Jordan is keeping the baby - given this shows slant.

Well given that the actress that plays her has a bun in the oven - they have to at least play out the pregenancy or attempt the lame "preggers cover ups" that some shows do where the character's gut is always blocked by something. But with the amount of "walking and talking" Sorkin shows have, that's not really an option.

Oh, I didn't know she was pregnant in real life as well - it would be a much better plot line if she had gotten nocked up by Danny. I dont see the whole Matt Harriot love angle gaining many viewers.

The drama isn't great, some of the characters are meh, but I continue to support this show because of the writing and dialogue. I think I would be just as happy with this show as a radio play - I like to hear dialogue as it appears on this show. It's refreshing when compared to most shows. I've been a fan of Sorkin's style since West Wing, so I'll continue to tune in as long as he continues writing.
