1. The name. Hate it.
2. Matthew Perry, I so cannot see him in any role other than the annoying Chandler.
3. The subject matter, I have no interest in a nightclub (if that is what it is about) for the stars.
4. It looked like the show Las Vegas. An ensemble cast of B-grade stars looking beuatiful and trying to act their way into better gigs.

1. can't do much about that
2. he's the best actor on the show by a wide margin. Not very Chandler-like.
3. It's about the inner workings of a Saturday Night Live type show.
4. never seen the Las Vegas show

Nice to see that this show avoided cancellation:

I thought that the last episode was fantastic, even though it was a "To be continued."
Anybody else still watching?

I also tend to agree with many of Sorkin's views, so perhaps hearing someone who can explain what I think is what I enjoy. Maybe I'm just overanalyzing. Whatever, I like it.

Studio 60 is a great show and I'm really enjoying it. Not to offend anyone, but does anyone else think this show isn't getting very good ratings is because not alot of the audience can "keep up" with the dialogue? A lot of the dialogue actually involves back and forth banter that I'm sure not everyone understands, especially when it pertains to political issues like it has so far.

Like I've stated earlier. It's not that hard to keep up. It's the walking around. Unrealistic and annoying.
When I talk to people I don't start walking away and expecting them to follow me. Bugs me.

I don't think that's it. Simply put - the show is heavy handed and preachy. I'm a huge fan of his but he has seemingly forgotten how to make a point without sandbagging the audience. Frick - the show takes place on a comedy set - it takes itself much too seriously.
In short - Sorkin has lost himself up his own rear end.

I still like the show,
its got good banter and it reminds me an awful lot of the West Wing in its style.
John Goodman was great on the show. He had me in stitches.

Me too. Sure Sorkin is banging the drum a little too much but personally I can live with it. The dialogue is still very well done and entertaining.
I agree, Goodman was a hoot.

Agreed - you dont get Preechy in the fist Season, you try to garner an audience and sell the show to get a second and third season signed up for then you get preechy.
Its still a good show.

The jokes aren't necessarily obvious and you might have to be reasonably well read to pick them up, not to mention the fact the dialogue tends to be rapid fire, with quips overlaying other quips . . . . . if you understand that right off the hop and can keep up, its a pretty funny and relevant show and certainly different than the average fare on TV.

I agree with all of that and I still enjoy the show, but it lacks subtlety in my view. Too many long speeches from the characters and not enough development of the personalities themselves
And I'm still not feeling any chemistry between the two characters involved in the big romantic storyline. None. Actually the Harriet character in general is just not working for me.

agreed with Harriet, she seems to be poorly cast. She's about as cold as a Fort McMurray winter used to be. I like the rest of the show.

I gave up on it after episode six. Just because it is more cerebral and educated does not necessarily mean it's a better show. The elements of a good series just aren't there for me. First the drama is either non-existent or simply unbelievable. What was the drama in the first six episodes? Well, the first episode was one of the best episodes of TV I've seen in the last five years. They had a national meltdown from a struggling show on a struggling network trying to turn itself around. You had a green TV exec trying to address the problem while being pulled from both sides to please the viewers and please her bosses. Good interesting stuff.
Crash landed by episode three. That story line was sidelined in favour of the exec being exploited over some tell all book from an ex-husband. Snore.
None of the characters on the actual Studio 60 show had enough time to show their subtleties and why they should compel me to care about them. None! Ridiculous.
The writers for this show got caught writing a commentary of the TV business instead of trying to write a good show.
Open questions. Which stories on the show do you enjoy? Infact can you name any of the drama/stories that is going on in the story? Which characters compel you?

In answer to Hakan, at Calgarypuck, we have an annual thread by people watching a log burn in a fireplace on TV at Christmas, waiting for an arm to come into the picture to stir the fire, guessing if its a loop or the real thing.
Now, I don't find the Christmas fireplace particularly interesting myself . . . . . but Studio 60 has something of the same attraction.
If nothing happens, I'm okay with that.

I know the log thread very well . That was one of the funniest threads I can remember. I actually showed it to some of Vancouver friends to show them so good'ol Calgarian sense of humour.

It's LOG! It's LOG!
It's better than bad it's good!
Everyone wants a log

You're gonna love it log
Everyone needs a log
LOG!From BLAMMO! batteries not included, some assembly may be required.

The characters I enjoy are DL Hughley, the guy from West Wing, the guy from Wings, and the other guy from West Wing. Nate Cordry is OK too but the stuff with his parents was too heavy handed.

Well I just watched the early feed of tonight's episode and thought it was arguably the best one yet - not preachy at all, and it was actually about the Studio 60 show itself. And the addition to Mark McKinney to the cast as a writer is great - his character is very interesting.
