That is the theme of this show that I've really been enjoying. Dunk is a 'Hedge Knight.' But he genuinely and honestly believes in the honour and duty and service aspects of Knighthood whereas the rest are just in it for personal gain and personal glory.

So when the Knight shows up at the end to support him? #### yeah!! Lets do this ####!!

Player 3 has entered the game...
Well Dunk is probably not actually a knight.

... Also are the Targaryens about to have some battle royal to the death? Does one side have to kill the other side in this trial by combat? I'm confused as to the rules.

Lost was horrible for that. Probably half of the episodes are filler than don't do a lot to move the story, but just enough to make you want to see the next episode just to be disappointed again. It was addictive, but annoying at the same time. And everyone figured out what was probably going to be the outcome half-way through the first season, but the creators kept denying it until eventually, it was like yeah, sorry you were all right actually.

I give it credit for being one of the TV shows that kind of kicked off the shift towards an era of better shows.

I think GRRM is at least a more creative guy even if he flies by the seat of his pants a little bit.

I believe the accuser can yield. Doubt the royal house would willingly put themselves in that much danger.

However the dream that Daeron told Duncan about, foreshadows something bad about to happen in GOT style.

I'd be surprised if Aerion lives through ep 5, giving me serious Viserys vibes. Obviously it could refer to a few Targaryens, but with him being so offended at the play it would make sense.

I'm assuming no book spoilers in this thread?

I believe it ends when either the accuser or the accused is defeated (death or surrender).

If Egg's brother dies or withdraws his accusation against Dunk, it will end and Dunk will be declared innocent. If Dunk dies or surrenders, he will be found guilty and at the very least lose his hand (and maybe foot).

I don't think the fate of the rest of the people in the fight matters to the outcome of the trial.

I really enjoyed the final scene. The music took me back in time.

Two big surprises in the last two episodes.

I did not connect the dots re Egg, I guess I’m pretty dunk as well.

I gotta tell ya, I did a GoT re-watch not too long ago and then this show and...if I'm honest, the 7 Kingdoms seem to be playing really fast and loose with the whole 'Knighthood Rules.'

"Any Knight can make another Knight."

Really? It seems like there should be more of a procedural process than that. Maybe some central register? Because otherwise people can just wander the country-side Knighting every Rando they see and....that appears to be cool under the rules?

It doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Maybe...a test or something? Even open-book?

The knights being able to knight other knights thing seems especially problematic as many of the knights seem to be totally unscrupulous.

Great episode.

The last minute knighting to get up to 7 was funny.

It helps that this isn't a super serious story in comparison to the other series.

Dunk sure makes friends fast. Not sure I buy Baelor signing up to fight his own kin for a fellow he's known a couple of days. Like I get being annoyed by your brother/nephew but damn. Dude takes honor about as seriously as Ned and Jon.

Yet another strong episode. It's far too long a wait for the finale. Love that the Hedge Knight ends up having more honour than most of the other true knights.

Dunk makes friends fast because he's awesome. He is what Knights should aspire to be and I think some of them see that and there might be some guilt in there.

Baelor? I think he's seeing an opportunity to conveniently remove some folks from the lineup for the Iron Throne.

I am really enjoying this show and I hope that since floating this out the feedback will be positive enough to give us another season with more than 6 goddamned episodes!!

Dunk's knighthood seems questionable--and I think that is what makes his character so fascinating. His hesitation to knight the fifth man basically sealed it for me, and yet he upholds the laws, virtues, and the oath far more than most of the knights we've seen so far . . . possibly going back to Brienne of Tarth or Ser Barristan

Do the rules against kinslaying still count during a trial by combat?

I feel like I need a westerosi lawyer... Or maybe just need to drop overthinking this.

Dunk and egg have a pretty storied history between these events and Summerhall. I'm sure there is a few good seasons of content in there.

Don't disagree, its just a lot of development over the course of ultimately a couple of days. Considering nobody would give the guy the time of day in episide one.

Isn't Egg suppose to grow up through the series? Seems almost like the opposite problem of Stranger Things.

Some people had a tough time with all the different characters and side stories in GOT so this singular story is a nice change of pace as are the shorter episodes. Zero filler, only good stuff for the most part.

GRRM's source material is peak

If he had written Winds of Winter and Dream of Spring in his lifetime, people would have a very different opinion of a song of ice and fire.

..............sigh. Stuff like this is nice at least.
