Ties the record set by Montreal, Florida and Boston.
Funny, all eastern teams.
Shows how the balance can shift from year to year.
The year Boston got 96 points, if there had been a crossover, no team would have gotten kicked out, as the lowest West team was Calgary at 97.
The year Florida got 96, Colorado at 95 would have been replaced.
The year Montreal got 96, Colorado at 90 would have failed to make it again, although two other teams failed to get 96.
And this year, Montreal at 91 would have been replaced, although NJ also failed.

Kind of lost because he didn't get his first point as Morty and Zayne did, but Brzu played really well tonight. +2 but noticed him in a good way many times. I think he's got a good chance to make it next year too.

Such a funny season. Starts and ends on a 4 game winning streak. Flames win exactly half their games but they hardly ever go W-L-W-L. It’s all three or four game winning and losing streaks.

Flames were 17-9-7, a .621 pace, since acquiring Farabee and Frost. And that was with Zary and Backlund missing time.
Both were snake-bitten as Flames, but they solidified the lineup tremendously - especially Frost. No chance they compete for the playoffs, without that trade happening.

Parekh was great - his skating is elite and effortless, his vision and IQ are obvious, and what really caught my eye was how crisp and accurate his passing was - every one on the tape.
Also really liked Brzustewicz. He might need another year in the A, but he is going to be a really good NHLer. Someone (Scorp?) said he reminded them of Brody - he actually reminds me more of Andersson. He sees the ice well, moves the puck well, and has good offensive instincts. Improve the skating, and he has top pairing potential, but seems like a shoo-in as a #3-4 guy

Yes. First 2 games in Calgary, the remaining 5 games in Washington. That way, travel is minimized.

No owner is ever going to agree to a playoff format that gives his team a maximum of two home games.

Very true...buuut....what if...and bear with me now....they split the whole thing 50/50?
We already have Revenue sharing for teams with low attendance, we have HRR to share Revenue with players, we have the Salary cap...what if?
Save on travel, both sides still might come out ahead.
Now...that doesnt solve the inequity of 'Home Ice Advantage' I understand that.

No owner is going to agree to that, either. Most leagues have some form of gate-splitting. If the NHL wanted that, they would have had it for a long time now.

Agreed on the passing prowess he really snaps it around and seemingly never misses.

The league takes a fat percentage off the top. I don't think the visiting team, as such, gets anything.

If you go into the season with Rasmus, you know they won’t trade him as they will be in the hunt for the playoffs. They will be walking him to UFA.
Another reason you have to trade him is all the right side defense depth. Parekh looks like he can play next season. Brz looks like he’s no more than a year away. Plus you have Mews who could see long term deals for Weegar and Rasmus plus Parekh and Brz and opt for free agency instead as there really isn’t much opportunity.
Conny MUST trade Rasmus this offseason. DO NOT extend Rasmus, he won’t age well.
|
Did you happen to catch Craig Conroy's interview with Pat before the game?
He basically spent 10 minutes talking about how Parekh and Bahl are a perfect pairing and how Hunter is ahead of where Ras was at the same age, notably with better awareness on the ice.
Sure didn't sound like a manager who was committed to have a certain RHD here long term.

I’d have to dig up the clip. He was saying it’s bs that owners just want 2 home games because the public doesn’t understand how the revenue works.
I see no reason why he would lie.
