Not putting him with the Wranglers kind of reinforces for me that Parekh will be in the NHL next season.

I like that decision from Conroy. Parekh has played a lot of hockey and his biggest focus could be preparing for next season.
Get him with the strength and conditioning coaches and working the skating coach as early as is reasonable. Give himself every opportunity to make the team out of camp next year and excel.

Seems like they want him to play in the NHL, but also likely want him putting on some strength and size. It takes time to pack on 10lbs of muscle and playing pro hockey at the same time would make that harder.
My guess is he's got a couple of weeks off, then it's time for some brutal squat and clean workouts.

Let's also keep in mind that a significant number of top five picks bust.
Parekh could also be the best offensive dman on the club since Phil Housley (yes I know Gio had that one incredible year). Best offensive defenseman to play a significant part of their career here since McInnes?
Parekh could change the whole offence on the team. An effective PP alone could push the Flames into average goals for territory.

He could make a huge difference 3 on 3 too

I just don't think there is any appetite for him to go back to junior to put up another 100+ point season in Saginaw and if they didn't think he was ready for the show IMO they'd be wanting him to get in as many pro games as possible while they can right now.

It is not at all a stretch to suggest that Suniev, Morton and Brzu all are solid NHL players sooner than later. With Coronato, Wolf and Parekh all variable locks to play on the high end of the spectrum for a long time, the rebuild isn't as far off as it seems at times.
If guys like Gridin, Battaglia and whoever they take this year reach their full potential and pan out as high end players, it could be what tilts the scale for sure. 7-10 young, similar aged high end players coming through around the same time is the kind of depth that can make up for a lot in terms of possibly not having a lottery pick stud center.

That makes sense.
I dont think its fair for a Wrangler to lose his spot for Zayne in the playoffs. If they still had a big chunk of the season left - I would be fine with it.

It will be awesome if he gets in some games, and ends up being really good and kept in the lineup. Calling his exclusion at the World Juniors dubious at best is being generous. I would love him to show how wrong they were. Martone being included is an eye opener for me. I really like that kid, and even though he isn't a center, I would love to see him a Flame. Size, skill and some nastiness. That's always very difficult to find in a top line player.

I don't think a player in the AHL losing a spot has anything to do with it (why would that matter anyway? You need way more than 6 D in any playoff run).
This is a clear indication that they see him as an NHLer aside from things like strength, bulking up in general. The kid has played ~150 games over the last two seasons and will benefit more from resting, training and being ready to go in September. If he plays a handful of games at the world championships, it will be a nice experience to add and will likely be safer route as opposed to being hit by men going full tilt in the AHL playoffs.
The last thing you want is for him to get nicked up in an AHL playoff game and lose a whole summer of training/preparation for the NHL season.

The way the Wranglers have been playing down the stretch and having Coachella as their first-round opponent, it is highly likely that going to the world's extends Zayne's season longer than going to the Wranglers would.

I have almost zero desire to see the best prospect the organization has had in 15 years slog it out through the AHL playoffs.
But the opportunity to carve it up on international ice with a bunch of established players and minimal pressure, AND the chance to embarrass Dave Cameron?
Where do I sign?

Is Weegar going to team Canada?
I still think Weegar makes the best partner for Parekh. 2 offensive minded players who can both skate, that can take chances and have a high IQ at that end of the ice.

Don’t know if you listened to the Eric Francis segment on Flames Talk Friday, but dude cherry-picked both our assessments of Zayne Parekh’s goal.
First that it was the type of goal rookie D don’t score, and second, the type of goal lots of D go a decade or their whole careers without scoring.
Good on us for having such solid takes.
As well, hi Eric!

Same experience here and I tell everyone the same thing. My son went from maybe we should just let him have fun in house league to making the div 1 team after a week with her over the summer a couple years ago. The improvement was absolutely staggering.
To answer another posters question, she does work with Hitmen and wranglers players. Not sure if that’s thru csec or just hiring her personally. She’s super accessible, anyone can have her work with them and/or their kids.
