And Hutson only started playing PP1 about 40% of the way into the season.
I know Calder isn't based on valuable (even the Hart is really given to the best player, not most valuable), but Wolf has been so valuable to the Flames, it's a shames he could easily lose. Maybe if the Flames make the playoffs it will turn some votes his way?

great win, love this team's fight...
on a side note, always felt they should copy the CFL and have the MOP (most outstanding player) instead to remove the valuable debate.

Both rookies have put their respective teams on their back and are willing them into the playoffs.
A month ago, I was on team Hutson. Now I'm leaning Wolf. Whoever gets their team into the playoffs should win the award. If they both do, I think it goes to Hutson simply from the eastern bias.
Both players are having outstanding rookie seasons.

Flames have a better record than Montreal...Flames had to compete with the Blues not the Rangers. Seems unfair if that is the decider...its not supposed to be.

I dont know about the rest of you, but I'm worried about Andersson. I dont know if its too many minutes, injury or just hard assignments, but he is looking well off the pace.
We're not going to get all that far without him at his best.

For Andersson, I've been suggesting he's injured for a while now. If you look at his game in years past, he's never been like this. But as for the game, what a group the Flames have in the room. That was a fantastic comeback, all kicked off with another smart coaching decision by Huska to put Klapka up in Pospisil's place after the injury, where Klapka went and scored on his first shift with the top line. Huska and the staff have a real good pulse on the guys and who's going.
Really good team effort in the 3rd after a disappointing 1st and 2nd by them.
Edit - meant to add, how about Coronato's SHOT?! This kid's shot is hard, fast and accurate and I'm guessing it only gets better!

Klapka has been a man on a mission lately and frankly, I know theres criticism of Huska, but he's been keeping Klapka in a position where when that guy gets a chance he's like a Bull out of the gates and ready to eat raw meat.
When he gets that tap on the shoulder he is off like a Cruise Missile.
Its fantastic.

I love that Klapka uses his size to crash the net front.
We've had many big forwards come through but few have ever seemed willing to use what the creator blessed them with like Klapka has lately.

I think the wear and tear from all the shots Andersson has blocked this year is starting to really show.

What Hutson is doing is pretty historical actually. He's currently 1 point back of top 5 all time, and likely finished top 3 of all time. Every player ahead of him, as you say, set their record in the 80s.
At 5'9'' and 160lbs, he clearly represents an acceleration back to the purely offensive d-man. Long gone are days when any player below 6'2'' and 200lbs didn't have much of a chance in the NHL as a d-man. Hopefully, it won't be long before almost every team has a dynamic offensive d-man on their point, which will increase the dynamics of the offence generally. Hoping our guy is Perekh.

You see. This is what I wanted from the extra pick we got from Lucic. Unforuately Whynot and Beck didn't pan out.

A carnivorous bull?! Yikes.
He really does seem like he’s figuring it out at this level though. It’s been fun to watch.

After the bull is done killing you, there isn't anything left worth eating. This makes it hard for them to be carnivores. I'm sure they would if they could.

Yep, that’s why teams have goalies. We would probably have a lot higher scores without them …
