Not really sure you can call Calgary a 'Prairie city'... it's at the base of the rockies - it is not similar to cities like Saskatoon (which the moniker 'Paris of the Prairies' comes from), Regina, or Winnipeg. Winnipeg is a hole, with very few redeeming qualities.

I take about as much stock in that as I do in Dissentowner when he says he will quit the board, but sounds good. Good luck!

If we're getting into technicalities, Calgary technically isn't in the pairies. It's in the plains.
And yes, there is a difference.

Available, and not sold, are two different things.
I know the lower bowls are not entire sold out these days, but the seat availability is significantly greater than the actual number of unpaid-for seats.
Also, that does not alter the point I was making.

What? I'm talking about blue, unsold seats on ticketmaster. Yes, there's been hundreds available for almost every game for years, unsold. That's why they move people down there.

You love Calgary so much you spend all your time on a Calgary message board...people hated Winnipeg long before a regular season referee assisted loss I assure you. Jets are in peak window and Flames are rebuilding...try not to choke in the playoffs again, thanks.

1) I didn't say there weren't ANY
2) some tickets on ticketmaster aren't 'unsold', they are just being resold
3) some seats are held by the team for promotional, and other types of reasons. If unallocated, they then get sold on ticketmaster
No idea what your point is - I never said the games are sold out, I said the majority of the unsold seats are in the PL section, and that most of the lower bowls are STH seats.
I was pointing out to the person that suggested that WPG seats are more expensive, and that's why they are not sold out, is misleading, because the 15,000 best seats at the Dome are more expensive on average than WPG.

Blue seats on ticketmaster are unsold and available. Pink seats are what you're referring to as they are resellers. I'm not confused about the difference between unsold and unavailable, and yes there are MANY, MANY available in the lower bowl and second tier for most games. To the point where they move fans down there regularly to make it look fuller on TV.

Yup. Winsport, Nakiska, Norquay, Sunshine, Lake Louise, Banff & Canmore winter festivities. Calgary is a gateway to winter activities.

Compare their ticket prices to the best 15,000 seats in the Dome (which are all sold).
In fact, most of the empty seats at the Dome are actually the nosebleeds.
And the new arena will be completely sold out, even with considerably higher ticket prices. So I really don't see your point - the fact is that the Jets' attendance is the lowest in the league.
|
You'd have a point if the best 15,000 seats in Canada Life Centre were of equivalent quality to the best 15,000 seats in the Dome, but they're not. 300-level seats in Winnipeg are quite high up and seats you higher than the jumbotron, which is why I'm equating them to the Dome's PL-levels. Paying $62/game to be a season ticket holder in the nosebleeds in Winnipeg is expensive compared to most other teams in the league.
The Jets have been a very good team for the past two years, but last year's 110-point campaign and decreased season ticket prices have marginally moved the needle on their attendance figures this year. Jets fans are speaking with their wallet and have continued to be vocal about ticket prices at Canada Life Centre being too expensive.
It's very different situation than Calgary where fans will pack the Dome and pay current prices (or marginally higher) once the team is good again.
