Look how well Gudbranson turned out on his big contract. Thank god. Doing us a favour. Worst case scenario was we signed him to a 5 x $5m or something crazy. Because that’ll be his ask. He’s already making $3.75.

Maybe this is the powerplay Zadorov's uses to get his LT extension here.
This is negotiating 101. Take your toys (after a great game) and walk away from the table.
If he said his family likes it here, he probably wants to stay still. But on his terms, it appears.

My understanding is this request was made after tonight's game. I also think Zadorov was insulted that the team never even started contract talks with him at all up to this point. I can see Z's point of view but I can also understand why Conroy was not ready to commit to anything as of right now. Too bad, I love big Z but it is probably best for both parties if Conroy can find a trade. Hopefully Conroy is patient though, get the right deal, even if you have to take it to the deadline.

I'm actually happy he scored that goal tonight, hopefully it gets the whole city, media and Treliving all over making a big offer for Zadorov.

However, its one of those casualties of entering a rebuilding situation. This team needs to ship out players for prospects and picks. Let young guys who care a shot and just get rid of the mediocrity.

Yup, say bye bye to anyone on the current roster. We really shouldn’t be attached to any of these players. The quicker we can close the door on this group the better.

Z will fetch a surprisingly big return. He is criminally under rated

|
My guess is he genuinely wants some stability for his family. If the Flames aren’t looking to extend him, then he knows the stability he desires is deferred even more. Rather than sit and wait, he’s making the request likely because he knows that a trade would also come with an extension from his next team.
That way he gets his stability sooner and can settle his family for a few years. JMO.

Scoring Winger

I think this is quite easy to understand. Zadorov has stated publicly that he wanted to extend and the team ghosts him. So he wants to be traded to a teams that will hopefully give him a bigger role and show himself in the playoffs so that he gets a better contract next year. He is on the 3rd pairing with the Flames and there is a good chance he gets more opportunities with another team.
I love Zadorov but his next contract will be around 5x5 or more, can’t say I want to commit that much to him. I would rather get a first round pick or a prospect

Who's gonna stick up for our Zarys and Pelletiers etc now? Zad is a rare breed in that he's big, skilled and can skate. 6"6' 230lbs mean-as-hell top-4 defencemen don't just fall from the sky.

Well he’s not a top 4 dman

not sure about that
Don't rush to trade him, enough of players pushing the organization around

I just got back on here after driving home. Where did I say this was my info, I am merely commenting on the news and giving an opinion. I was guessing this might be what Sec had heard earlier and my thoughts on the situation, not everything I post has to be a rumour I heard, I can comment on things I don't hear first you know.

Draft Pick
|
Weeks has handcuffed the Flames for any trade leverage that the Flames could get in a trade for Zadorov. Gm's now know they xlcan low ball us.
Zadorov is a big player that makes us better. Losing him will be a big loss to the team, and teams won't think twice about entering our zone with him not patrolling the Blue line.
