Less actual dollars out. And it's a sunk cost.

(no way he's getting bought out at this point,, just saying)

Glad to see Zary playing well. More youth and losses please.
You know what?

This season may end up being the most unifying season we’ve had in recent years for CP.

We’re all in agreement about the team’s low ceiling.

We’re all (pretty much) in agreement about some unlikeable players.

We all want the Flames to better off at the end of the 2024 draft.

This wasn’t the best game to show it but yes. And even in this game there were worse examples. Like Lindholm. He’s a shell of what he was.

Tanev had a really bad game with the puck, so did Weegar. Mangiapane scored but was invisible otherwise.

At this point I feel bad for the guy, it's just not working and not for a lack of effort, it's a lack of confidence.

And really he must know by now that the fan base hates him and is scapegoating him for all the bad things in this franchise, none of which is actually his fault.

He's been nothing but try to be a good ambassador for the franchise since being traded here, has been involved heavily in Kid's Cancer Care and "Huby's Hangout" and gets no credit for any of that.

Entertaining game, rookie kid played great, Flames were engaged, goals were scored, and they ended up losing anyway...

Pretty much exactly what the fans want, no?

Thing about the season so far is that a 2-7-1 is one of two ideal outcomes for this season.

You wanted either a 7-2-1 start or a 2-7-1 start...really anything in between would have been worse. I'm much happier with a 2-7-1 start where the needed direction appears very clear to everyone, instead of a 4-3-3 start where they are still thinking they are in the playoff race and have a shot.

Weegar was the best player on the ice. Mangiapane probably had his best game of the season so far. Agree on Tanev - he has struggled so far this year, but then again, I expect that of the older vets - they get better as the season goes on.

Eh, he needs to be better. He iced the puck on a power play and killed three separate zone entries with terrible passes. He deserves all the flack he is getting

if the flames pr could just tell us beforehand which periods theyre actually gonna play, so we can just tune in for those. They can suck the rest of the game so they lose em all.

Yup - either great, or crappy. But not middling, middling would be the worst possible scenario.

So is half the team. Look at Zadorov - or every other Russian player in the league. Look at Markstrom or Lindholm. Or Ruzicka. Or Lucic last year. Maybe you were just used to Gaudreau in his toques.

Most entertaining game of the season by a mile, especially that third period!

Zary brought some youthful jump to Kadri's game and playmaking I have not seen in a while.

I am at peace with this season.

It clearly will disappoint in the results department but may in fact do this franchise much more long term good by resetting our core and stocking our cupboards with a new generation of talent (if we can draft and develop properly).

4-5 UFAs are shipping out before or at trade deadline. Hoping for 4-5 core pieces in return on the roster by 2025-26. I will gladly lose a bunch of entertaining 4-3 games for that.

It was interesting to watch how much faster the Flames looked tonight. First of all, they were engaged and hustling - on their toes - but also, it was because they were actually completing passes, and moving the puck quickly.

The Flames aren't the fastest team in the league, obviously. But you don't have to be, in order to play fast. Tonight they played fast. And it was so much better to watch.

Also, Huska looks like a lot better coach when they play like that. Funny how that works.
