Ward similar being the good guy under Peters, who let them goof around at practice but then couldn't get through to them when they needed a kick in the behind.
People don't want to hear it, but the Flames have fostered the mentality of players having a big say in the next coach and how the team is run day to day. Inmates run in the asylum if you will, it that sounds too scary to some, buts it's essentially what's going on. All good until the coach starts pushing buttons to try and get players and the team into a different gear.
Last time meant that the team kept Ward after the playoff loss to Dallas and they wasted the next season as result.
Backlund actively campaigning to both remove Sutter, and become captain, pretty much says all you need to know about the similarities here (as Backlund has been a part of all those swings in coaches, after ironically being drafted by Sutter), and makes his comments last offseason (about think of asking for a trade becuase of Sutter and being bumped becuase of Kadri), and throughout this season and on garbage bag day, come into context.
|
What the heck are you rambling on about.
Who goofed off?
Backlund was upset because he was the 3C he was played a lot and his minutes stayed the same not sure how you make up all these things.
The Flames tuned out Sutter in 06 in one of the most embarrassing game 7 displays on home ice. He was never going to coach that group again. He was as bad as Treliving in finding a coach

Huska is overrated on here. Look at our defence high danger goals against and chance % and it is near bottom of the league with one of the strongest D lineups in the league. Edmonton's was better under a run and gun system with a mediocre D man group than our puck possession two way system. None of the assistant coaches should be back, let the new coach pick his guys and if that new guy is Ryan Huska I don't see us improving.

I sure hope the Flames don’t do Flames things and hire Muller.

Yup Huska is overrated and being pursued by Sutter in LA confirms it based on his assistant hirings and poor speciality teams prior.
They should all be fired. Let the new guy find his guys.
We really need to focus on our powerplay it's a powerplay league now doesn't matter what we think about it but it's just how it is.

I'd be happy with Love or Brunette, fine with Boudreau, and I'd be disappointed with Huska or Muller.
I don't care how good they are at interviewing. Results matter.
See Gulutzan.

A lot depends on the new GM, no?
Unless it's an in-house succession plan, where every one just moves up a row.

Dave Lowry.
He had experience and failed with Winnipeg's toxic locker-room.... as did Paul Maurice.
Lowry inherited a mess and had his son as his best team player/leader.
In Seattle it seems that they are doing everything right and getting career seasons out of journeymen and re-tread players

Voted Brunette but I suspect the budget will be low until Sutters $8m is paid, probably Love especially if Conroy or Pascall is named GM

I don't understand Gallant, when he was with Florida, I thought he did a pretty good job but Florida fired him mid season. Then Vegas hired him and he did a fabulous job with the Knights first season wining a lot of games. Then they fired him. I wonder what's wrong with him?

He's an old-school hard-a$$ like Sutter.
The Flames should pass on Gallant unless they want to buy-out another coach in two years.

Seems like he’s a worse version of Sutter with an even shorter shelf-life. No thanks to him being the next Flames coach

They own the team the next 6-8 yrs

Plus they'd have no excuse if things didn't turn out. At some point, they'd have to hold themselves accountable - I think.

It would be cheaper if we just made Huberdeau and Kadri player coaches.
