Depends if they get lucky in the later rounds again and find another Gaudreau. Going into a rebuild while getting value for all the upcoming UFAs would be nice.

If Iggy comes into the fold, I'll ask for an forgiveness for my earlier outbursts...
Little worried about Bean's "lead our team to the Stanley Cup", of which I'm reading far too much into - because this team as it is has no chance.

I’d like to see Treliving get hired in Pittsburgh

This is my hope. No one wants to play in Calgary. The UFAs will all leave and no decent FA will come to Calgary barring a massive overpayment.
Ultimately this should lead to a team built through the draft. Unfortunately there’s likely going to be a new ‘Young Guns’ era before things improve.

The love he gets in this fanbase is hilarious. 2 series wins in 9 years while cycling thru 5 different head coaches, spending to the cap and inheriting a decent young core to begin with.
Sadly i have 0 faith this ownership group hires anyone better to replace him.

Brad Treliving brought a tremendous amount of class and respect to the Flames organization. He was a great ambassador for the city of Calgary. You can never question his commitment to doing the best job he could for the Flames. I wish he could have been able to see things through to a championship but this is a damn hard league to win in.
All of the best moving forward for him, whether it is in the NHL or elsewhere.

I simply want this team to leverage its assets and avoid a scenario worse than the end of the Iginla era.
My existence as a fan of this team is pain.

I think it looks worse if they do that. I like Iggy but he would basically be here for fan appeasement.

I don't think so.
We're talking about Iginla. It's a completely different ball game when a person of that quality is involved.

Conroy promoted to GM. Sutter fired, Muller fired. Huska promoted to head coach, Love promoted to assistant, Iggy hired to run the pp (Can't be worse than Muller).
Please make it happen

The 9 years prior to Treliving coming on board:
Zero playoff series wins, 4 playoff appearances, 5 years out of the playoffs

Sometimes I wonder if he was too classy. Never played sharply with LTIR.

Will miss Treliving, the only way they find that level of quality in a replacement is to go inexperienced and hope he works out like Treliving did.
Will be good to have Maloney if they do go that route.
|
I disagree. I feel like when you read between the lines of this move, Edwards promoted Maloney because he is willing to do what Treliving wasn't and that is tow the line as a company man through and through.
I bet that this PoHo position was just offered to Tre as an olive branch move, and he shot it down as he wasn't willing to bend over for Edward's any longer. Maloney may be a good man, but I don't have any confidence that he is in this role as someone who is looking to reshape the organization or take it to where it needs to go.
Time will tell I guess and hopefully I'm wrong.
