Yeah the big question I had during the 10-game streak was how will they match up against MIN and COL. I guess we know the answer to the first part now!

He has also steadily improved as a play by play guy in my opinion. I love Rick Ball, but I don't mind when Singh is calling games except for the no Rick Ball part.

Telltale sign he's good at his job is that I didn't even notice until the segment with Kelly.

Compare that to Hextall where I immediately need to mute my TV.

Playoff series preview?

Maybe.

Two good teams but one was clearly better over the home-and-home set.

If Flames go 15-14-2, they have a 100% chance of making the playoffs.

I didn't think we'd take both against MIN, but jeeeezuz COL is scary good and will be a different ballgame. I fully expect the L but don't like the idea of how it will impact morale. Getting schellacked randomly by VAN is one thing, but going toe to toe with another heavyweight in COL and seeing you're not on their level could be sad. Finger crossed.

I don't think they are gonna be worried about this, hopefully they have a good game but they won't thrown in the towel if one road game goes the wrong way.

Besides, Flames might see the Avs in round 3 if both teams make it, not something to worry about. So much can happen in the playoffs.

say what you will about Hrudey there is no way he isn't a nice dude. that was just two decent guys whose hockey journeys to that same booth couldn't have been more different
Kelly Hrudey is easily the nicest hockey player/ personality that I have ever met.

I was at the McDonalds in Canmore a couple of years back (my university days) I was out with my grand-uncle, who was visiting from India. I was stepping out of McDonalds when I ran into Kelly. I just smiled at him and made a comment about how I’m looking forward to the flames season and watching him on the broadcast next year. He proceeded to start a conversation about the off-season moves, and what I thought about them. We ended up having a 5/10 minute chat on the sidewalk. I was absolutely blown over with how friendly he was and how much he cared about hearing the views of folks he just happened to come across.

When we were done, and we walked away, my grand-uncle just assumed it was someone I knew. He was not willing to believe that a hockey personality would have such an interaction with a fan, especially someone who has had such a great career in the NHL.

Let’s just say hockey got a new international fan in my uncle that day.

Yep, low budget commercial played on Sportsnet occasionally. It was so cheesy I had to use it. I cant find the one I used but came across this one. Same thing, different outfit, lol.

Hrudey is a gem, my dad escorts a special needs friend of ours to about half the home games every season and (when they were actually in the booth at the dome) Hrudey would come down to say at the end of every single game to him (and many other fans). It's a bit hyperbolic, but he really does seem to always make time for people.

Agree that, normally, you don’t read too much into a game. But half this team lived, and was subject to, one of the greatest playoff beatdowns I have ever seen in 35+ years of watching playoff hockey. Mike Smith was a ####ing legend in that series and we got pummelled.

There are demons there with Col. I am very interested to see how they deal with them.

What a fun win! Lots of nice passing plays with each of the goals. Even the Wild goal was pretty. Mangiapane's goal was the flukiest sequence ever, but the Flames have all the luck right now. What a stunning run the Flame are on. In Sutter we trust!

Also nice to hear the love for Singh and Hurdey. New brofest? Always been a huge fan of Singh since hearing his red eye flight stories years ago. I also don't mind him and Cassie together. But him and Hrudey are actually a really nice pair.

I guess the way I look at it is that the goal is to win the cup. There’s no other team that they should shy away from. They either learn how they have to play to compete with the best teams, or they don’t have the ability to beat the Avs (which I don’t believe is true) and morale didn’t matter and they should just give up the season now.

That was a statement game. The Wild came hard at the Flames, but the Flames did not bend. A really solid performance throughout.

Hard to believe with the roll this team is on that they are still 14 points behind the Avs for 1st on the west (tied for 2nd overall in the west) and that there is still 6 teams in the east with more points.
