Reminds me of going a Chelsea game at Stamford bridge. You couldn't bring booze to your seats (apparently to reduce drunkenness?) so instead you ended up with 40,000 people going and sculling 2 pints at the half in the concourse. As if that made things better....

All I know is that in November I got a call from somebody at the Flames, the pair of seats beside me had opened up and they wanted to know if I wanted them. The wording was they were mine and came with the rights into the new arena. (More for the point that they were permanent as opposed to be offered for just this year.)
My seats are the best of the greens, row 17 in the corner; so the section next to me is paying double what I pay.

You can get tickets in the nose bleeds on Fansfirst for $8 each. Don't see it being much of a task moving down to the lower bowl after doing so.

For sure. It would piss off the STHs in the lower bowl that were not able to give up their seats though!
My son actually said that too, but I told home that we’ll glue our butts to our 2 nd level seats lol

Email from Flames confirms doors open 6pm for 7pm start and no food or beverage service.
Dutton's, Saddleroom Grill and Telus Club open 2 hours pre-game for table service only.

Given the capacity rules, I’d bet they’ll have ushers at every concourse entrance and will be checking tickets.

Thanks for the update, taffeyb. Much appreciated.
Poor ushers. What a thankless and impossible job it would be to enforce proper mask usage.
Were the restaurants open only until puck drop? I'm particularly interested in the lounge behind section 212.
Were there at least any special fan appreciation type giveaways?

3). No social distancing enforced for the seating areas. As expected as it would be way too hard to do so
4). Ushers did not check for tickets but they were enforcing mask wearing albeit a lot of people don’t know how to wear them properly aka “chin diapers”. They enforced having a mask on but not necessarily if you were wearing it properly
5). CSEC provided by water stations with Dixie cups given the lack of concessions
6). Obviously quiet atmosphere The plus was that you can hear the on ice action really well - more “F***s” than normal - a lot more….
Conclusion. Will attempt to volunteer my tickets but will attend if I am unable to
Also…if you are sick, STAY HOME! The seat right next to me was coughing up a lung and sniffling throughout the game. I moved. You can’t control the crazies but you can control yourself.

Also at the game. Me and a friend were up at the top of the 2nd deck and considered moving down after the 1st or 2nd, but saw that the usher presence was pretty extensive so decide to just leave it alone. Didn't see the water stations or open restaurants, but wasn't looking super hard.
Also the game sucked, so it felt meaningless to move down. As noted in the game thread, we left after the 2nd. Wasn't because of the capacity, or the lack of vendors etc... It was because the team sucked and the game was boring. I'll sit for 2.5 hours and watch hockey without food or drink and 5-10 thousand people certainly have the ability to create an awesome atmosphere if the team wants to give them something to get excited about.

And here we are 4 days from the next game.
No word on signing up to relinquish our tickets for the next game.
I guess it's a bit much to ask for an organization that has had since Dec 24th to plan for this to give us more than a day's notice on whether or not we need to try to sell our tickets.

Well, I don’t think the move is to reduce drunkenness. I’m pretty sure the Flames would love to sell food and drinks to increase revenue - it’s just that some fams beleive that having a drink in the cup holder means no mask is required.

What happens if 50% don't relinquish the tickets? I know not likely but say down the road for a weekend game, vs the oilers, just curious? What would they do to stay below 50%?

Probably do what teams like Winnipeg were planning on doing before the league started postponing games and and cancel single game tickets to get to 50%. My cousin had his ticket for a Jets/Wild game cancelled after Christmas and wasn't too happy about it. It ended up getting postponed anyway though.

Interesting that you need to have the tickets in hand in order to relinquish; if you’ve already sold them off then you don’t qualify (unless you’re able to get them transferred back).
No mention of people who weren’t picked last time getting any special consideration this go round.
I do like that they exclude “ticket brokers” — ie people that have entire rows of the press level strictly for resale…

Yeah- I was equally surprised that I was given the option again for this game even though they let me relinquish for the Ottawa game.

From the Flames:
“You do not qualify to relinquish your tickets if you have already taken action on any portion of your seats and moved active ownership for that game to another individual as outlined below:
You have re-sold tickets on any platform or privately.
Your tickets have been transferred to another person to attend or manage. You may still qualify under this scenario if the tickets are unwound by having all the tickets transferred back to you the primary season ticket member which will once again make your tickets active for you to raise your hand or re-manage if you are not selected for relinquishment.
You are deemed a broker account or an account based on transaction history for the primary purpose of reselling your ticket holdings.”
Curious how many games you have to sell to be deemed a ticket broker.

As stated in the email:
Quote:
As it is unlikely that the number of tickets that will be volunteered for potential relinquishment will exactly equal the number of tickets that will be needed to meet the capacity limitations, the following process will be used:
- If the number of fans willing to potentially relinquish their tickets exceeds the number of tickets needed to meet Provincial capacity limitations, then a random selection will be made from such volunteered tickets to meet the capacity limitations.
- If the number of fans willing to potentially relinquish their tickets is less than the number of tickets needed to meet Provincial capacity limitations, then in addition to the tickets volunteered, a random selection of tickets that were not volunteered will take place to meet the capacity limitations.
|
Although it's not likely to happen, in the short term, even for weekend games, I would expect there would be more people unwilling to attend than 50%. If it did happen, I wonder if they would include STHs who didn't relinquish their seats in the random draw.

I am transferring my tickets to premium games to my wife. Therefore I won't be eligible to relinquish my tickets. Its their rule

Did they release actual attendance numbers for Ottawa? On TV it looked way less than 50%.
