Good governance at a national level is not possible with just one person. It takes intelligent, collaborative and compassionate people to make a real difference in people's lives.

I'm hoping that Americans will put trust in the Biden team, rather than just Biden.

He wants to toss any that aren't received today even though getting votes after election day as long as they are post marked before today is not new. They never have all the votes counted on election day. Also not new.

The republicans tried to toss 127,000 votes in Texas, after the state decided to allow curbside voting.

He's definitely going to try some shady stuff. He'll declare early if he's ahead etc.

A comfortable Biden win helps stop that nonsense.

Here's a complete list of when ballots are due, by state.

https://time.com/5889969/how-to-vote-by-mail/

Yes, Trump is trying to prevent ballots form being counted. His last comment on this was ballot counting should stop at midnight on Election Day (tonight at midnight) and no ballots counted after that time should count. The process many states take is not counting ballots until the poll close, so that would mean all ballots would have to be received, opened, verified, and counted in a four-to-five hour window. Not possible for millions of votes that traditionally get counted after the fact. That would also completely discount mail-in votes that are clearly post marked before election day and not yet received. This is voter suppression to the highest degree.

I just got the inside scoop from an acquaintance who's locked into all things in the Qniverse. Main points are:

-Definitely a Trump victory in the 360's, probably 369.

-Mail in voting will be negligible (?) and won't affect anything

-California has a chance to flip Red

You heard it here first!

Funny thing is, he totally believes all of it. It's mind boggling.

The last 4 years has been a nightmare that I thought I would only see in a book written by Larry Bond or Tom Clancy, sadly this hasn't been a movie or a book, its been a real life nightmare of insanity and the rise of hate in the States.

I hope for something different and we will get change, I'm just still not sure that Biden is going to be the miracle that the States needs to heal.

Where do you get this idea from? Nobody thinks Biden is a miracle, so it's weird that you wrote that as though it's a common thought among people against Trump.

Everyone sees Biden's flaws. Biden probably sees Biden's flaws. He's old. Probably isn't as sharp as he once was. Isn't a great speaker. Etc. These aren't secrets.

It isn't just Trump versus Biden. It is the current policies of Republicans under Trump's leadership versus the policies of Democrats under Biden. It is the team Trump has formed versus the team Biden will form.

Under Trump, the USA will basically stay on this current trajectory.

Under Biden, it will begin to head in a different direction that includes policies supporters of Democrats view as better for more people, better for Western alliances, and better for the planet.

This election is in fact about different ideas. It's mind boggling you see it differently. Trump and Biden aren't two sides of the same coin. They're miles apart in the problems they see and the solutions they offer.

Nobody is sure. In fact, most people are sure he isn't.

Biden, and even a complete Democrat sweep of the House and Senate, is not a miracle.

It is not going to fix the United States.

I keep hearing about how Biden isn't solution, about how Biden isn't ideal, about how Biden isn't a great option.

This is about stopping the bleeding. That's it. It's about letting the train wreck come to a rest. Nobody is counting on Biden of all people to snap his fingers and put it back on the tracks. If Biden wins, we can start surveying exactly how much damage has been done and start picking away at it. "Healing" takes time and effort, we're talking years, and possibly a lot of them. And that's if the Democrats sweep and the Republicans moderate during the next election. It's about getting back to the baseline, there is damage done that no Presidential term is equipped to fix.

There is no such thing as miracles, and I really wish people would stop hoping for them.

Do you realise how long it took photon to write the algorithms that make the sureloss work? It's not as simple as porting it over to election related Twitter accounts.

That's actually kind of an interesting question.

For the run-of-the-mill appointees - the Ben Carsons or Betsy Devoses of the world - it's a simple matter of removing them from their posts.

For Trump operatives however - the Rudy Giulianis and junior Trumps - I wouldn't be surprised if the FBI and intelligence agencies have been sitting on evidence of criminal activity, which has been suppressed, withheld, or ignored under the Trump administration, but which will come to light when Biden takes office.

For those types, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see criminal charges further down the line. So many of their contemporaries have already been prosecuted notwithstanding the Trump administration being in power, it's hard to imagine there won't be any future prosecutions when Trump and his cronies are out of office.

I mean come on America take a good long hard look at yourself.
In my opinion, any notion of unrest is significantly overblown and borders on paranoia. Not that it isn't understandable.
There will undoubtedlybe the odd incident, which most of the media will salivate over, but it will be a relatively peaceful, quiet night.

Maybe I am only hoping so.

Even if you don't like Biden he will put competent people in the right positions...boggles the mind some can't see that. It's not like the president does the "work" anyway. The guy who hired Omarosa is threatening to fire Fauchi FFS

Yep, this election is about pulling what's left of American democratic institutions out of the fire. This is triage, and if successful the system will still be ailing for a while even if everything starts heading in the right direction.

Even if Biden wins decisively tonight and Trump concedes, there will still be 2&1/2 months with Trump in office, a massive wave of covid, high unemployment, a damaged financial system, more small business closures etc.

The crisis that Obama and Biden went into in 2008 was smaller and less complex than what the US faces now. Things can get better, but there is no overnight recovery ahead no matter what the results are today.

Can we have a silent poll seeing how CP would vote if we were in the states (not to mention some American posters are on this site). It seems to me after silently following the American politics thread that anyone who supports Trump is demonized on this site, so I'm curious if there are closet Trump supporters or if everyone actually would vote the same way.

If Trump still gets more electoral votes than Romney did against Obama, I am afraid the Republicans will not have learned much from the last 4 years, expect maybe to get someone that can out-Trump even Trump in 2024.

I just don't think they are going to lose hard enough to really make them change.

Good idea. It would be interesting to have the election game thread with its own anonymous vote.
