The 2010 mayoral election in Calgary ruined it for me. That line was so damn slow I decided then and there I was never doing it again.

Yeah but why at the last minute? I would have done it sooner or dropped it off in person. Trump has said flat out that he is trying to get them tossed out.

Interesting, I had no idea how it works down there. The ones I've done in Canada the deadline for mail in votes is like 2-3 weeks before election day

Isn't it crazy that you feel the need to post this (don't get me wrong it could become an unsafe gong show down there) and that stores in some major cities are boarding up.
I mean come on America take a good long hard look at yourself.

Read a few articles that have suggested it needs to be a Biden blowout to achieve a peaceful transition and also a rebirth of the Republican Party. I generally don’t care much about US politics but the outcome of tonight’s election will have reverberations across the globe. I truly hope Biden can win this and that America can return to its previous status as a beacon of democracy. The world needs some semblance of normality.

I've been expecting election day chaos - and beyond - for a long time, But reading tripin-billie's post (#26) really drove it home this morning.

I don’t understand those who say that this election is boring. I find it the most fascinating U.S. election I’ve ever followed, and I’m cheering for a Biden blowout and fear what happens post-election should Trump call his thugs into action.

That’s my understanding of the states.
I don’t think Trump has said he’s trying to toss mailed ballots - just perhaps the ones technically not received in time?

It's not even going to be close to a blow out, like the Reagan-Carter, Reagan-Mondale, Johnson-Goldwater, Nixon-McGovern elections.
It really makes me wonder just how bad those other candidates could have been. I know Carter has a reputation of being an ineffective president, but he was not nearly as bad as Trump. In fact, Iran hostage crisis aside, he did a lot of good in his 4 years and in his life since.
Trump has a low probably of victory, but the fact there is still a possible path is not great. I definitely look at anything other than a complete evisceration of Trump as the glass being half empty. It tells me that unless Biden is a homerun, we will be right back where we are in 2024.

Because the polling has been the steadiest since 1996 and COVID has scaled everything back pretty much. Barring a massive polling error the only interesting part of the election will be what happens after. But everything from June 2019 (ugh....) to now has been pretty boring you must admit.

Not received in time due to some amount of intentionally trying to reduce the capacity of the USPS to deliver and process the mailed ballots on time.
Most states have laws to allow for mailed ballots as long as they are post-marked by election day. That means they will be received in 2 or 3 days to the proper counting place. Trump doesn't think they should be allowed, even though the law allows for it. Just one more piece of evidence that he doesn't believe in the rule of law because it doesn't suit him.

Honestly I find it fascinating for all of the wrong reasons.
This wasn't an election of great debates, great ideas, or a choice of great leaders. If I could change the term fascinating to s%%% show that has all of the appeal of a head on collision between a school bus filled with nuns and another school bus filled with senior citizens going to the IHOP for breakfast, I would.
The last 4 years has been a nightmare that I thought I would only see in a book written by Larry Bond or Tom Clancy, sadly this hasn't been a movie or a book, its been a real life nightmare of insanity and the rise of hate in the States.
I hope for something different and we will get change, I'm just still not sure that Biden is going to be the miracle that the States needs to heal.
