I'm sure it was mentioned in the GT but I just rewatched the play where Lucic turns the puck over and sprints back and passes OEL to help take a 3 on 1 away. Great job by Rasmus to break up the pass but that should have been a clean 3 on 1 until Lucic turned on the jets.

Aside from that turn over Lucic had a low key extremely solid game.
Rasmus was quietly amazing too. He's already exceeded my already high expectations for him

I believe backchecking hard and smart is the most positive and infectious thing anyone can do. More than blocked shots or hits, even.

It's weird how similar the eastern conference standings are compared to 2010-2011.
The top 5 teams in the east in 2010-2011 are the same as the top 5 teams in the east right now (Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington, Tampa Bay, and Boston).
I know the league has a lot of parity. But the good teams tend to remain good.
However, the west is completely different.

The Flames haven’t changed their home jerseys since 2007.
Glencross didn’t start in Calgary until 2008.
(I don’t consider the Adidas redesign different than the previous design)
But the adidas redesign is pretty substantially different. The piping is finally largely gone, the lettering and numbering on the back is no longer italicized, and the hemlines and collars are completely different.

Johnny has quietly taken his game back over the last 15. Honestly, very happy for him; that he could do it. He's always been a superstar and I hope he doesn't look back.

This game is HUUUGE! Biggest game of the year dare I say. A win puts us one point out of 3rd in the Division, while a loss drops us 5 pts back.
Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Chicago (Chicago? yes, Chicago) also in action. Big night.
Quote:
Jumping on the wagon... HUGGGE game. Again, wanna see this team play it like the huge game that it is. Refusal to lose indeed (referencing part of the interviews in the op).
Quote:
This is about as must win as a must win game gets. If we lose, we're in a deep hole that'll be tough to climb out of.
That being said, Yotes will light it up. 5-1. Garland x2, Hall (off the schnied), Keller, Demers
Quote:
Every single game left on the schedule is the "biggest game of the year," really.
Quote:
Every game gets BIGGER Rally the Valley ,Go Yotes !!
Quote:
Yep, this is basically playoff hockey now - coach Tocchet should put it to the team this way.
There's 14 games left - that's like two 7 game series. Let's win these 2 series.
Quote:
Home team seems to win every game tonight. So Canucks will get 2, and the Ducks will start to climb back in then. Glorious.
F-Bomb Hallsy
Quote:
We are brutal, can’t even make a pass in the neutral zone.
Hall and Hayton seem like the only guys playing with urgency.
Quote:
"What Are you ####ing....???"
Taylor Hall to the ref just now. So loud you could hear it through the broadcast
Quote:
Hall is on a mission tonight, keep feeding him the puck.
Quote:
Hall was pissed no one entered zone with him
"What the ####???"as he hits his stick on ice looking back at Dvo
Quote:
You heard that too??
Sounded like he yelled "Thanks for the ****ing support!!"
Quote:
Hall is angry tonight and I f***ing love it. At least somebody is passionate about making the playoffs
Quote:
Hall goes 200ft with no support. Where were the other forwards?
Quote:
He’s flying into the zone fighting off two guys by himself and there is no one to be found…
Quote:
Hall was pissed there
Quote:
Okay so Hall is pissed tonight, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed it
Quote:
Hall double shifting??
Father Time and Two Cup Rings
Quote:
Kessel should've shot that
Quote:
That doesn’t sound like something he would do
Quote:
and when he does shoot, it goes high and wide…have heard that way too much this season
Quote:
Kessel's velocity is gone
Quote:
Yep, now he is just big, rather than speedy in a large frame.
Quote:
Kessel has nothing left in that wrist shot. It's piss weak.
Quote:
Shoot
Phil Kessel, for a goal scorer, doesn’t like to shoot, drives nuts
Quote:
Phil Kessel has been a bust, not Chayka’s best move
Quote:
Kessel with a shot 2 feet wide.
Quote:
"tough shift for Kessel"
man every shift is a tough shift for kessel
Quote:
Kessel also lead the team in PP TOI. Played 28 more seconds than Taylor Hall.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Quote:
I feel like Kessel is destined to break out in the final game of the season, once the Coyotes are long dead and buried. Probably score 5 goals or something, and Tocc will take that as justification for feeding him minutes all season.
Forbort Saves the Day

HOW THE #### IS THAT NOT A PENALTY ON FORBORT???? ####ING GRABS RICHARDSON FROM BEHIND AND STARTS PUMMELING HIM!!!!
YOU CAN TAKE THE PLAYER OUT OF LA. BUT YOU CANT TAKE THE LA KING OUT OF THE PLAYER
Quote:
This Forbort kid needs to cut it out with the defensive plays.
Quote:
how the hell.....
E: yeah the hockey gods hate us still.
Quote:
How did that what?
Edit: That was a helluva defensive play.
Quote:
he was putting the puck down and got cross checked back onto the puck. i feel like that should have been 2 penalties or none
The Friendship Tour
Quote:
Tkachuck also popped big Carl in the face. Straight up punch, when he wasn't even doing anything right in front of the ref.
Quote:
Oh here we go. Tkachuk might want to keep his scrums out of Kuemper's reach this time.
...on the zebras
Quote:
Someone call the ref for elbowing dammit!
Quote:
Hayton got f***ing leveled by the ref lmao
Quote:
O'Rourke just broke Hayton
Quote:
RIP Hayton
Ref should get 5 minutes for that high elbow.
Quote:
Bruh the ref just elbowed Hayton
Quote:
"He's down on all fours."

Shooting Blanks
Quote:
If the net was like a soccer goal, we'd still send it wide and over the net
Quote:
Why wouldn't you shoot that?
Quote:
Why does this team force passes that immediately become turn overs instead of shooting the puck!
Quote:
They play a heavy trap system and rely on a fast counter attack rather than sustained possession. Part of that is moving it straight forward as quickly as possible, including tip ins and dump ins. Dallas and Columbus play similarly. This team simply cannot score off of the cycle. It seems like they make 'too many passes' because their offensive zone time is actually incredibly limited relative to their opponents. Witness...
They are underwater in:
CF%
FF%
SF%
xGF%
SCF%
SCGF%
HDCF%
HDGF%
26th in SC SH%
24th in HD SH%
27th in SH%
They are literally underwater in every single scoring metric share apart from GF% aka they concede more than they generate, and they suck ass at finishing what chances they do generate aka quality is loooow.
The one metric they are great at? 5v5 SV%, which they are 4th. Dallas is 1st and Columbus 5th.
The Coyotes are the definition of a team that sells out everything to protect the net.
Johnny and Brodie tag-teaming

Get lead, give up a ton of good chances. Sounds about right.

Johnny plays like Keller should
Quote:
What the f*** there is zero communication between OEL and Bush. They're taking the same f***ing guy and leaving the slot wide open
Quote:
Oh well. Did lead for five minutes.
Quote:
Goligoski going down to 1 knee instead of just trying to contest the shot with his stick.
Quote:
lol handed all the momentum back to Calgary and they're killing us
Quote:
kay
Quote:
We're playing SUPER soft on the blue line in the offensive zone.. more soft than our usual god awful ED
I hate seeing a slow rolling puck back and our D running away from it for 5 seconds before the other team grabs it for a rush
Quote:
Well I expect our normal response to that. Game over...
Quote:
Have the Coyotes broken up a single Calgary zone entry? Feels like they're just flying in
Quote:
One minute left, coyotes just keep flipping the puck to the neutral zone. Calgary trying to score.
Quote:
Coyotes 1 - 2 OEL/Bush
Basically spent the entire period letting Calgary walk into the slot. Total trainwreck defensively, they're hanging Kuemper out to dry.. again. I expect no adjustments.
Backlund with the GWG
Quote:
I turned it on when it was 1-0 Yotes, then Calgary scored 2 so I turned it off for good luck... Turned on NHL Network and they turned the Yotes game on and Calgary scored again are you ####ing kidding…
Quote:
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Quote:
Well, that is about it...we can't score 4
Quote:
Welp, that's probably the season. It was fun while it lasted, I guess.
Quote:
Weak goal there
Quote:
Can't rely on the goalie to steal every game. It just isn't viable.
Quote:
Uh-oh. Our nemesis, the third goal.
Sad Extra Man

How many times has the Coyotes this season pulled the goalie for an extra attacker and scored? I think 0.

I'd pay somebody good money to actually ask him the tough questions, but even then he'd just deflect/make a joke/walk away

343 games since the Coyotes scored a goal with 6 skaters on the ice. Yeah the beat goes on.

It’s inexcusable that Chayka didn’t remove this coaching staff in January. Absolutely unacceptable.

lmao Talbot. Ew 2-1, wake up Yotes.
Quote:
Would rather bury Arizona, since the BoA is likely anyways
Quote:
I feel like the only one who doesn't want a first round BoA. I think the Oilers have been the better team in general this season but head-to-head Calgary have had our number. I want the Oilers to make it to the 2nd round at least
