Seriously, over time, the schtick has been used in movies for better or worse purposes. One I recall from way back (like the 60s?) had a guy wake up black and was meant to demonstrate prejudice. Soul Man is (I think) supposed to be the same, though I never saw it. Hamhanded but well-meaning I guess. RDJ's thing was meant to show his character as a foolish method actor.
On the other hand, there's no excuse for Dan Ackroyd in Trading Places, Billy Crystal at the Oscars, or Gene Wilder in Silver Streak. That said, I have a hard time saying that the actors were racist (i.e. believed in race superiority) as opposed to stupid and racially insensitive. IMO Trudeau falls in that category, only less defensible because of the date and his own background.
This incident was way worse - intentional humiliation of a person. In that it's pretty similar to Peters IMO.

I’m all for hammering Trudeau about it, but get a grip. Trudeau’s blackface incidents can be part of this conversation to provide context but the relentless “bUt TrUdEaUuUuU!!!!” is old. Im probably going to be painted a racist by some members of this group, i am not.
At what point does Aliu using his new stage with the media to call out and resolve past racism incidents go too far?
I try my best to teach my young children that when someone’s actions affect your personal beliefs, safety or security that you need to speak up about the situation and let them know the effect of their actions.
Was there a way that this could have been discussed privately instead? Did that already take place?
In no way am i condoning the actions of the trainer, especially if it was done maliciously.
