I am seeing The Flames beating the Lighting in Game 7 of the Finals this year.

Please make this happen.

It looks like by the end of the night there is the potential for the first WC team to succumb to the Flames magic number.

With the Flames ROW now at 41, the best ROW LA can muster is 40 if they win all their games. With that ROW tie breaker advantage, a LA loss to Dallas tonight will make it impossible for them to pass the Flames. What it also means is the playoff tsunami has made landfall and will start consuming the other stragglers.

The next team that will get swept away this weekend will be Anaheim, who also can not catch us in ROW.

Sportsclubstats has the Sharks with a 5% chance to win the division now.

It rises to 10% when you remove the weighting...but either way it’s looking good to avoid the “toughest road” to the 2nd round

Would be nice to rest a few of the players in the last couple if games if that luxury presented itself (Granpa Gio, Moneyhands, Lindy, Backs)...as well as getting some games into the call-ups, just in case.

Locking in the top seed early would be extra beneficial.

Everything was going so well. To put things in perspective, this is the first time since segment 3 that we have lost back to back in regulation.

I think I jinxed things by proclaiming teams will start succumbing top the Flames magic number. I apologize hockey gods, I will let you determine when the teams are done. All things considered, 3 points up and we have a 2 ROW lead with 16 games remaining. Just need to keep on keeping on.

The red highlighted ROW at the bottom indicate that those team can no longer catch the Flames in ROW. In a magic number formula, it calculates the points or games to finish 1 point ahead of the team. So with the Flames clinching the ROW the magic number for those highlighted are actually 1 point or .5 games less. I just was too lazy to override the cell.

I was talking to my brother about what's up with the losing streak and we both agreed that CGY are playing extremely well in their end and even in transition. In recent games it seems the first point of breakdown seems to be that first pass or play into the offensive zone. A bobble, a pass that puts a team mate in a tough spot etc.

I recall Gio saying recently that they have to play the right way and then be dynamic in the offensive zone. They are doing exactly as Gio describes but it's just off right now in the offensive zone.

I asked my brother if a team should 'change the way they play' or change their identity so it obviously begs the question of what's the identity? I think CGY are a highly skilled, highly intelligent, highly competitive group that just blows minds when you add swagger in. They need to keep that and once the swagger comes back - and it assuredly will - they will be unstoppable.

For me, trying to fix their current issues (scoring) is akin to when a PP struggles to convert. Perhaps it's simplifying (get traffic and shots through) or maybe you change up some tactics but you stick with the belief in what your team is.

CGY are close to breaking out in goal scoring. Once they get one, I think the floodgates will explode open. Chucky against ARZ beat Crouse just inside the offensive blueline, walked in and almost sniped a beauty but it was blocked - that's how close - but they kept after the puck and got some secondary chances.

The first couple of plays inside the offensive zone is where they need to bear down - everyone is tightening up and taking away time and space but through tactics and skill/ability this team is going to be lights out - I just see it.

Get in that good headspace, get in a good rhythm and flow and just continue to make plays.

1 pt behind SJ with equal games played.

The silver lining is this is that the Flames have a somewhat forgiving schedule the rest of the way.

Gonna be interesting to see how this shakes out.

The Flames’ forgiving schedule included the last 4 games.

The problem is not the opponents at this time, it’s on the Flames’ side.
