I think Hamonic cannot get back fast enough. A shake up with our D pairings will have to be a positive over what's happening now. Ryan should be in the press box for a bit, I think he should be the odd man out right now. I am of the opinion to NOT break up Johny/Mony. Sam is being hamstrung right now by Neal'sack of production, would love to see him move up and play with Chucky.

C’mon guys. One bad game and we’re gonna split up the 3 most productive duo the last 3 years? Losing sucks. Losing when playing like crap sucks worse, but it’s one game.

I said that Brodie has been slightly-above-average, and that he makes colossal mistakes that cloud people's impressions of him. The Flames are net positive in shot production with him on the ice, a marked change from previous years.
Hanifin, on the other hand, looks his age. As I said, he looks "bad Brodie-level-bad." He looks consistently as shaky as Brodie looks when he makes the aforementioned infrequent mistakes -- AKA "Bad Brodie." Hanifin clearly misses Hamonic dearly. Look at the numbers -- the Flames are at their absolute worst when he's on the ice. His shot production metrics are by far the worst on the team. He's been heavily sheltered his whole career and is being thrown into really hard minutes -- him adjusting poorly was inevitable

Both the flames and the refs had a bad night. Maybe they were all probably worn out from extra curricular activities the night before...
Wanted to see more from the team for Rittichs crazy first period, can’t waste those kind of efforts guys! PP can be improved in a number of ways but the start of it should be entering with some speed and following that with some hustle urgency and faster passing.
Oh well move on and do better in the next one!

Ah. I agree if you are saying Brodie, at his best, is slightly above average compared to the rest of the Calgary D.

He's been fine, and that's about it. I think the Flames could benefit from an improvement in that position -- and thankfully, they have one in the wings named Travis Hamonic. The stability he provides to the Flames' RD can't be overstated.

Horrid puck decisions , bad discipline, extremely poor defensive play along with excellent goaltending, to keep it concise.
The latter element kept the game close.

I’d be fine with him as a bottom pair d. But he plays top two minutes. and he is not “fine” for that role. and that is why this team is forever middling.

Missed the last 3 minutes, what did Domi do after the buzzer?

I like the adjustment after the 2nd period. The Flames came out a lot better in the third.
These kinds of adjustments were rare last year, so that's a positive.
Tkachuk and Backlund played well. That line was pretty solid.
Rittich was great again. He could be a huge positive for the team, because at the end of the day, goaltending is the biggest question mark.
Hanafin and Andersson struggled (although Andersson finished +2, so that's weird). Once again, the refs were quite iffy. Not sure about the powerplay.
Hamonic can't come back soon enough.

Hit Anderson at the buzzer when Rasmus was casually skating back to get the puck. Then had a #### eating grin on his face laughing about it as the refs separated the two.

Not sure i have seen an entire hockey team go through an entire hockey game and collectively think the game as poorly as they did....aas a group.
It was just weird how they would get out of synch all at once and then stay that way for stretches.
And I agree....Brodie? Yeesh.

If one has the capacity to look past the Drouin dive that put him in the penalty box, it was very much a good game.
- Moved the puck cleanly all night, zero giveaways
- controlled the front of the net
- logged 2:39 PK time without a PPGA,
- Led the team with an off-the-charts 87.50% expected goals percentage
No, but he was also not bad. There's a difference. He's getting Troy Brouwer comparisions... Troy Brouwer was flat out bad. Neal has been more snakebitten than anything. He directed five unblocked shot attempts past the Habs D (led the FLames) and did plenty right.

Hanafin gives the Flames the “best chance to win”?

Hanifin is still the third best D-man on this team. Pressboxing him is idiotic. So yes, he gives us the best chance to win.
The musical chairs at 3C is not getting us anywhere. The two-way play Bennett gave us at center in 2016-17 through to playoffs was better than anything the other three guys (Dube, Ryan, Jankowski) have shown at any point in their careers. If Bennett had a right winger that year instead of Troy Brouwer/Alex Chiasson this wouldn't even be a topic of discussion. He's the best choice as the 3C and allows a guy like Dube to slide in on the wing with less responsibility.

Most of the team struggled tonight.
Rittich, Bennett, Backlund and a few others were good but overall we were sloppy and making passes to players that instantly had a guy on them.
Bad team play ultimately cost us again..
But yea I agree with you and felt unsure about Ryan from the get go.
I knew nothing about him so was willing to wait and see but so far I'm not a fan.
It's becoming obvious to me the only reason he got around 40pts is because, as Canes fans warned, Peters likes to overplay him.
He should be a 4th line face off specialist who plays on the PK.
Instead he's been playing mostly with Neal and getting plumb PP time.
Bennett and/or Andersson would be better choices on PP2.
As much as I love Treliving I have always been a bit weary of his work in Free Agency.
Raymond, Brouwer, Engelland and Ryan I hated all of them instantly..
I changed my mind fairly quickly with Engelland but the rest were either a hinderance to the organization or in Ryan's case, to be fair it's too early to tell but it's not looking great so far.
Neal I'm willing to give more time because I at least notice him out there using his size and overall skill. He's still struggling to turn that into anything useful offensively but I think the biggest issue is finding the right guy up the middle for him and Bennett, that guy isn't Ryan IMO.
I don't know where he fits in the lineup outside of being strong in FO's.
Defiantly disappointed with the early returns on that contract.
