Do you think the Preds played scared because of him? I don't.

Winning the special teams battle makes me tear up after last year. Wasn’t thrilled about Peters but liking what I’m seeing to start. Much more entertaining hockey.

They had about 10 shots on the 5 on 3...seemed like it anyway
shot tracking seemed a bit off...who cares though
better for the save% and hurts their shooting%

They look like a group that believes they can go with anyone... I see focused intent. It’s miles from what they looked like last year.

What Peluso did do was being the first one in a scrum, no matter how small it may have been. Even at the end of the game when Dube was in the Preds zone at the end face to face with the dman you could see Peluso get involved. As well as a couple of other scrums, he did what Engellend would do in the past. That inspires confidence for the players they will have backup much like when Gratts was here and would provide.

Nashville gets shut out? It’s all Smith’s fault...

You are like those guys who attributed wins to Hathaway being in the lineup two years ago.

Those hits on Johnny were clean. Ronaldo is a cheap shot artist. I guarantee he realized he would have to answer to Peluso if he tried anything.

Never said he was responsible for the win - but he was a positive factor for the team. I see opponents taking liberties on us when we don't have toughness in the lineup. NHL teams are smart and they'll find your weakness if you have one. Agree to disagree with you I guess.

The hacks on Johnny and Lindholm at the end weren't clean.

What a great game.
That felt like a round 2 game 3 playoff win.

Ekholm didn't seem to care about peluso when he hacked Lindholm. But he cared after Lindholm took his twig and cross checked him to the ice.
Also, Preds gave zero effs about Peluso partolling the waters when they smooshed Gaudreau a couple of time real well in the 1st either.
His presence is being great over exagerated.

He just needed an "I'm the man" moment to become the man again, which is what I predicted for him going into that third period. The guy runs on confidence/swagger. Just what the doctor ordered.

Preds weren't scared but they behaved themselves (ie: no exceptional liberties taken by them).

Ya know, I don't actually think the Flames are systemically doing a whole lot different from the last two years. But Peters knows what he's doing and that's helping the Flames thrive. It's kind of boiling down to that Mangiapane / Zykov contrast that was pointed out in the offseason. Peters just seems to "get it" WRT meritocracy. And if Janko comes back next game and lights the lamp, we'll be a dangerous team.

Having Peluso on the bench allows the skilled guys to do what skilled guys do without worrying about having their faces fractured by some goon on the other team. Of course that isn't 100%, but it's much less likely with Peluso on the bench.
