Flames probably blew their load their in the first period, and have nothing to show for it. One of the other reasons for the disappointing season.

Thought it was a good period. Honestly there is no bad shot if you have traffic in front. Fleury didn't see a few of those and those are dangerous no matter where they come from.

Agreed. But today it looks like their compete level is where it should be. Looks like they're playing like they did against the oilers the other night. I'll take it.

And two or three solid defensive plays causing a turn over or two. And some smart passing.

Vegas looks checked out not much effort on their part. This game is very winnable.

Man you'd think this was a Flames home game from that camera shot of the concession area.

So naysayers will say, this is exactly the issue. The fundamental premise is that GG hockey controls the play but doesn't generate enough top quality scoring chances. There we're no high quality odd man rushes by the flames (2-on-1s, 3-on-2s, etc), the PP didn't force MAF to make any high quality saves.

When the shots are 19-6 and the flames don't score...i think it actually suggests the nay-sayers are right...
Rich Sutter has just shown and commented on 5 high quality chances including 2 off the rush.

Also could help with his confidence and maybe keep him driving to improve trying to get there, instead of becoming complacent on the 4th line.
I'd like to see that too. I was hoping they would try him on the Jankowski line earlier this season too. I think his speed and grittiness would be beneficial and I think his offensive skill is under-utilized on that fourth line as well.

There is a LOT of red here. Great atmosphere in the building too. Flames dominated that period, Vegas looked really flat.

Good news, they gave Calgary another shot on goal.

So close Janko. Nice play by Bennett, wondered for a second why Janko was playing with Gaudreau before I saw it was Sam

Except for the fact that the team also lead the league in shots from high danger areas right in the slot.

This team has a lot of faults but it’s not because of “more stationary shot from the perimeter”.
