Okay, I haven't commented directly on the coaching for about 10 months now, deciding to simply watch, but I think it's been absolutely atrocious for the most part and especially to start this year. GG's putting out lines that are clearly not working in key situations, the other team wants to try to match their best line against the other team's worst line and good coaches work hard to create that kind of mismatch, GG is willingly putting out drivel like Brouwer-Stajan-Glass+Bartkowski against lines that will very obviously slaughter them, and I can't even begin to fathom how he justifies doing so, especially to close out games where we still have a fighting chance with any of the top 6 actually being used during those key late games moments.
At the same time, we're piling on GG about the power play, yet isn't that supposed to be Dave Cameron's job? He had our power play come out completely obsolete to start last year too and it took him forever to figure out who clicked with who, why is there not a bunch of experimentation going on there yet in game? We've been rolling the same useless power play forever now with little if any variation. I don't support GG a heck of a lot, but Cameron has contributed to a significant piece of the grander problem and GG shouldn't get all this blame.

This team simply isn’t very good. Everyone on this site who sees this is constantly chastised as being negative. There is nothing on this team that is worth anything other than Smith and maybe Tkchuk. Honestly Bennett might be the worst player on this team for what is expected of him. This team is hot garbage and borin as hell to watch.

I don't have issue with either Treliving or Gulutzan as I feel they're both very valuable members of the Flames' organization. Also, that's incredible that you think that Treliving's only bad on-ice move has been signing Brouwer -- if that's the case, then how on earth could Gulutzan possibly be able to make any bad player deployments if they're all great players worth signing or keeping around?
Glass = bad. Stone re-signing = bad. Bartkowski = bad. Lack = bad. Keeping F. Hamilton around = bad. Treliving is a pretty good GM but we all love saying that he's largely without fault, which isn't the case. His record isn't perfect -- not even close -- which limits Gulutzan's abilities on the bench. Do I agree with how he's deployed Jankowski? No. But that doesn't make him a bad coach, to me. I think some of his players are bad, but that's not his fault.

Seems like so many teams have room for young guys in third and 4th line roles but the Flames trade away 2nd rounders for other teams garbage.

Have you watched the first period when this team played against St. Louis a couple nights ago? Did we not have the same roster ?

Jankowski with under 8 minutes of ice time
Bennett with 9 minutes seems odd.
I would bet, the Flames reassign Jankowski when Jagr is activated on Sunday.

Flames are going nowhere fast if they continue to play like this on home ice. Absolute dog **** effort.

Darryl Sutter. He probably has the ability to get the most out of the players and take the team a lot further based on experience. If the Flames falter in a bad way I hope they don't wait too long to make a change.

Just to go full rant.
Would it kill Monahan to, y'know, be a visible contributing player on ice that wasn't between the offensive face off dot and the opposing goal?
He's so freaking one dimensional out there.

That's what I'm afraid of as well, they need to clean house, fire the whole coaching staff

The worst case scenario will be they trade Bennett pennies on the dollars and then they fire the coaching staff. It's Savard all over again.

Even more annoying then the game was Cassie Campbell-Pascall. Just a drag every sentence being negative.

Brodie missed a wide open net on a nice feed from Brouwer...I bet they win the game if he puts that on net

Letting David Schlemko walk after he was a huge part of our playoff run and the obvious partner for Engelland?
Gambling an unprotected first as a bubble team a full year beforehand on a defenseman coming off a down season where he was visually and statistically one of the least effective defensemen in the NHL?
Waiving Paul Byron the same season he scored 20 goals?
Signing ECHlers like Glass/Grossmann/Bartkowski when better options have consistently been available internally and externally?
Overpaying a #7/#6 defenseman(Deryk Engelland) to be a #4
Failing to get Bennett a legitimate linemate to play with (i.e. Okposo) to help his development rather than hamper it?
Trading a 20 goal NHLer for a career AHL tweener?
Trading a 2nd line NHL talent on the cusp for a 2nd round pick?
Let's call a spade a spade. Tre is an average GM in a league where the average GM is not very good.
