As long as you say so.

Your theory fits if you ignore that all the reputable media insiders have been saying for weeks before today the Flames weren't shopping Hamilton, just listening to offers.

So, is the Leafs trying to dump several more Leeman's onto the Flames for Hamilton?

It was amusing that , after the panel covered the Burke tirade during last night's game, Doug Maclean twice said he was sure there was "fire" to the rumour. Idiot.

Seems like that "idiot" GM wanted Hamilton, got denied and then tried to intentionally leak the rumour to drive Hamilton's price down a bit. Burke felt it was a foul move and went out of his way to lambast that idiot.

What's your point? Maybe at that point in time it was an accurate statement, then some of the kids came along and pushed him into the minors.

I do believe dreger on this one. Coyotes offered duclair and chayka loves hamiltons stats. Trying to sell high on duclair. Just like I do in yahoo fantasy (he's same age).

So for the Mathy guys like Joyce in Florida and chayka, do you now try to acquire some assets that they want to flip them in a trade and get over payment? Florida uses NHLe stats which we use here too. Find dudes that over index in junior, ahl, and SEL scoring that won't ever translate to NHL and sell them on to Florida?

Except I believe that was just Maclean trying to cover his own butt becasue he was one of the ones "reporting" it. It was so obvious I was actually getting frustrated with him and Friedman.

Predicting something in the future =/= talking about past events.

My point is that I don't really take Burke's comments at face value, in this or any other context. What he is saying, he is saying for a reason. And it is not necessarily to convey to fans exactly what is going on behind the scenes.

That doesn't mean I think they're shopping Hamilton. It just means that for me, Burke's comments really have little bearing.

I like what he is saying in this case for sure and I hope it is 100% accurate.

I can see where you are coming from and I am kind of on the fence. Would he have done the Tortono media circuit if Toronto wasn't coming through Calgary (I think he mentioned he did 3 shows). What we do know about Burke is he stands up for his players. I think the combination of Toronto coming through, standing up for his players, and putting a GM in his place he thinks may have crossed a line in some aspect is why he decided to make a comment.

Radio jockey and one-half of the TEAM 1040 embarrassing morning duo David Pratt is having a field day with Burke's comments from yesterday. He has been insisting all morning that Burke pushed very hard for the trade with Boston and the contract extension, that Hamilton has been a huge disappointment, and the Flames are suffering from buyer's remorse.

It's hilarious because Pratt has such an obvious axe to grind with Brian Burke from his days as the Canucks GM. What a loser.
