not sure anybody really went that far. I believe Kypreos, McKenzie and all the others just said they'd listen to/entertain offers, but not actively shop him.

Wasn't going to watch this vid until this comment. So I did.

237 lbs!?!

He's listed at 210, that's quite a difference but such a specific number that you wouldn't think Burke pulled it out of his arse.

It was said he beefed up over the summer. I think it has shown too, he's definitely more physically involved.

When the on ice product is sometimes not that good, at least we can count on Burkie to provide some entertainment. To say that on Toronto radio is pretty entertaining!

Haha, gotta love Burke. Does this mean the 2016/2017 Ridiculous Hamilton Rumour thread will go back to being the 2016/2017 Trade Speculation and Rumour thread?

Also, I am wondering why a GM would spread something like this but I guess some people are just trolls.

Hamilton is deceptively physical, part of being a big guy.

He doesn't have to do much to lay a punishing hit and I think this season he's had at least one bone-rattler per game. They aren't phaneuf or regehr explosions but the guy is massive and moves quickly.

Besides, the game isn't played like that anymore. Hamilton hits in the vein of a larry robinson or denis potvin. Hip-on-Hip Bone Rattlers.

Thanks to AC for having something like this at the ready.

On top of that I think he has actually tried to be even more physical this year, especially early on in the season.

I wouldn't doubt Hamilton's weight at 237 - I see him listed at 6'5" and 6'6". He doesn't look 'skinny' to me. Really tough to say. I mean, Kanzig is 6'6" and was 239, and he looked huge. Jankowski at 6'4" and 210 looks thin (not skinny, but thin). Really difficult to guess weights.

I tried to look up what his draft combine weight was out of curiosity, and didn't find it, but apparently Hamilton is a fitness nut. He did well at the combine:

The "Next Ones" by THW had him listed at 193 in their draft preview - was interesting to read about him and how close they were on what he would turn out (though one can hardly say Hamilton is a finished product at 23). They seemed pretty spot on, though I would say he will become a top-pairing defender.

I didn't know both his parents were Olympians, and that he was a smart cookie in the OHL.

I don't see any reference of the word 'idiot' in the article. Why is it in the title?

says they moved heaven and earth to beat out 12 other teams to get Hamilton from the Bruins and gave up 3 very high draft picks

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Hamilton win the Scholastic Award?

Just listened to that clip and let me tell you was it ever pleasing to hear him lay it out like that. Everything he said was pure truth.

Burke is entertainment for the masses, but I wouldn't put much stock in what he says publicly like this. I suspect he supported his pal Ron Wilson as Leafs coach just before firing him shortly thereafter back in 2012 or so. The Flames have shopped Dougie Hamilton and didn't like the offers. Done.
