Correct. The cups also say 20 oz. on the bottom.
Did anybody bring a graduated cylinder to the game last night and measure it?

Writing McDonald off now is similar to those who wrote Jankowski off after his first year of college. Jankowski was a long term project and most goalies are long term projects. Can't judge a long term project at the beginning of it can we?

Based off the number of goalie prospects in our system, we don't have years to watch him develop at the AHL level. We don't need to evaluate harshly right now but we do need to start looking at who should be getting the heavy minutes where, and how he compares to other goalie prospects.

Sounds like he belongs in the ECHL for now. That isn't a bad thing.

I noticed Gulutzan's approach to defending odd-man rushes last night.
For those who don't recall from his YouTube defenceman compendium, at one point he covers gap control on the rush, leading into odd man rush defending. He plays clips of a x on 2 rush and asks the coaches assembled, "So is this a x on 2 or a 2 on 2?"
His answer is, play it like a 2 on 2 and don't worry about the far guys. As we saw last night, this makes the puck carrier try to force a play early (as pressure is applied at the blue line) instead of entering the zone and having time to evaluate his options. The Oilers had a 4 on 2 last night that amounted to nothing because of the early pressure and gap control.

I think there's very little chance McDonald plays higher than ECHL this year, but I have an honest question. Are there examples of guys who spent time in the ECHL who went on to become a solid starting goaltender in the NHL? I'm just guessing, but I suspect there aren't a lot of top goaltenders who end up in that league for any length of time other than for conditioning purposes.

Are there any highlights from the flames side from the game in Edmonton? On the flames website it looks to be from oilers so there aren't any clips of the Flames goals.

You could also use a scale with a factor of .95RD and then cross multiply to get Oz. No need for a graduated cylinder....

Jonathan Quick played 38 games in the ECHL. His numbers there were nothing special either.

Yeah, garbage Oilers are garbage. I hate it when you try to watch AHL highlights and they don't show the visiting team's goals. Really bush league for the Oilers to do that too, especially when they know they're putting together the only highlights package for the game.

They don't force you to drink so don't understand why people complain about beer prices. Stop by the liquor store on your way home and drink at home for much cheaper.
And besides, if beer was $3, you'd have a bunch of drunks having way too many and driving home.

^Appreciated Roof Daddy, but some of these look like conditioning stints or simply getting a guy playing time. Holtby's in particular looks like they never meant to have him down there for long.

Yeah I just went with guys I could find with double digit ECHL starts. Holtby barely made the cut.

Nope. It's not similar at all to writing Jankowski off after first year. After the draft, Janko moved up to college....a higher level in quality of competition and was pretty young for that level, so it was expected that he would be slow.
McDonald has been at the same level of competition (the Q) and is not improving. His team has improved, but hasn't seemed to. That league is pretty loose, so his numbers aren't going to be pretty, but he should be showing some improvement.
And ya...we all know that goalies are slow to develop. As time marches on, the range of outcomes narrows....we get a better sense of what he is going to be. The chance of him making the NHL seems to be less now than when drafted. I don't want him to bust.....i want him to sort it out. He doesn't just let in goals....he lets in some crappy goals.

If Macdonald becomes the equivalent of any of those guys with ECHL stints I'm very very happy at this point.

They've always said 18oz, but the cups all (even the non bottoms ups) are 20oz cups, as marked on the bottom. I've always felt good about my purchase thinking the 2oz was free.. good feelz.
edit: I have actually drank out of 18oz cups in an arena, its noticeably smaller.
