Not really. They've already been told they'd have insurance and can play without a contract. I'd say first day of training camp

Yeah they are insured, but I bet the payout for insurance would not be as much as a signed contract. I agree it isn't a show stopper. Maybe significant was the wrong term.

Isn't the World Cup at the same time as training camp, so they'll miss camp and I doubt they'll be negotiating during the series.

Main camp opens around September 21, I believe. World Cup exhibition games begin September 8th or 9th.

I liked this thread better when it was about cats.

These kids sure don't seem eager to sign in calgary long term, besides a little bit of lip service from Monohan there's not much going on.

Yeah, look at that Taylor Hall, he's the way to go. You've gotta follow the 3 "D"s: Drafting, Development, and Dealing away for a mediocre return.

Everyone who warned about making fun of the Oilers, karma, and glass houses were right

Your epic ripostes have hit their mark with tragic success, and we deserve it. If only we'd listened!

Training camp will be 2/3 over by the time the Word Cup ends. With the first preseason game being Sept. 26 and the YoungStars tourney ending the 19th, I would assume the first day of camp (fitness testing) would be as early as the 21st.

Happy birthday Johnny Gaudreau! Now give us all the gift of a long term contract!

That's because Calgary hasn't given them the "it really doesn't suck that bad to live here, honest" DVDs yet.

Once those babies are burnt and shipped out, it should be signed, sealed and delivered.

I was going to say Monahan 6x6 and Johnny 6x6.5 but now all this talk about UFA years and bridge contracts are really making me double think things. I just thought 6 years would of been a nice middle ground for both players and the team.

6.7 x 7 for Johnny and 6.0 x 6 for Monahan. That's my prediction based on...nothing at all.

Let's see CP continue to negotiate against the Flames in favour of a worst case scenario due to the prolonged lack of news.
