Well Freddie was my second favorite Flames player of all time (B) but don't think he qualifies. How about savior Jamie Lundmark with the angel pic?

Powerplay Quarterback

Skrudland is my choice - he was captain material, and his loss in the expansion draft was a one of the worst examples of the poor Flames management in the '90s (nothing tops the Gilmour Macoun trade).
Nick Fotiu desrves a nod. He was very popular with the fans as a short-term Flame, but he also played a very important role in the Flames late season dominance of the Oilers in 1986. He totally neutralized the Oilers' goons and prevented their intimidation of the Flames 3rd and 4th lines. This allowed the Flames to use 4 relatively strong forward lines to outperform Edmonton's two top lines.

Thought he really clicked with Langkow and Bourque.

I liked Dawes, he was a player that really stuck in my mind from when I first started following the Flames. 32 points in 66 games for next to league minimum was a pretty sweet deal

I'm gonna say Chris Drury because he was one of my favourite players before he got traded here, which made me extremely excited to see him in a Flames shirt. Too bad it didn't work out that well.

Dawes started the season well that year, but when the offense dried up - he was exposed as a player that just wasn't good enough on either side of centre.

Oliwa and his impact. Flames finally had some guy who scared the crap out of other teams and most importantly from that, it signified the Flames were no longer to be pushed around. Sure, Simon and add a whole bunch of guys that over achieved thet spring, but Oliwa and his presence gave the Flames another dimension for teams to have deal with that season.
Godard took over and was the reigning heavyweight champion of the league for two years.
Marcus Nilsson was another underrated player who got the shaft when Keenan came on board.
Bertuzzi, who showcased his soft hands, pure skill and strength with a lot of highlight reel goals that year.
Drury for finally having a legit skilled player who could take over a game.
Krivokrasov as it meant the end of the first Cale Hulse era.
Tonelli in 1986 was a huge pickup and having his Isles Cup experience helped push the team finally over the Oilers hump.

This thread really shows the era we all grew up in. Brathwaite wasn't really short term for those of us who had to suffer through that time. In my burgeoning years it was Sergei Krivokrasov. Donovan obviously for '04 nostalgia.

Dave Hindmarch.
A promising career that was cut short when he crashed into the goal post during a game against the Canucks. It resulted in seriously damaging the cartilage in both knees. He was in a wheel chair after the operations and had to learn to walk again. This was before the NHL came up with magnetic posts that moved when they were hit.

Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention David Jones. Not the shortest term (174 + 11 playoff games), but he was a pretty decent scorer who had some grit. He helped to form one of the better Flame lines in recent history (Ferland - Stajan - Jones), too.

Out of the short term right wingers: Stempniak > Jones, by a mile.
Jones was much too slow

Brad Stuart.
Also wanted to go with Chris Simon and Steve Reinprecht but don't think 85 or 96 games counts as short term enough.
