Small sample size but Agostino hasn't really stood out and he's at that stage of his career where he really needs to make the most of his NHL opportunities.

I'm starting to think that we could possibly get an asset if we trade Engellend. Guy has been solid all year.
Anyone have anything to say about Agostino? At one point he could have had the puck but he froze in the corner and just stood there until he got hit. Ugly to watch
It was a delayed highstick, so he couldn't touch the puck.

I don't know how anyone can say that Hamilton isn't an amazing young player who's steadily improving. To me, the kid looks like he's just getting better and better. He does still need to work on some parts of his game but IMO he's got the potential to be the #1 guy on the team in the future.
That pass by Hamilton to Monahan for his second goal was terrible and he's not that good of a player, I'm sure Ricardowd will explain why...
I think it's because a lot of people forget how young Hamilton is.

Was wondering why Scottie Upshall was celebrating that first goal like a buffoon. He hasnt scored in two months/23 games, though looking at his past few seasons it looks like he should be used to that.
Was the same type of player back in minor hockey too.
I may be wrong but that looks like the "C" that the Cleveland Indians have been using for the past few seasons...in fact I think I see the exact hat Dougie wears at the bottom of this page:

He made a couple of really good plays last night and looked good on that third line.
I thought he was good.

Agostino has improved a lot over my last viewing of him a couple of years ago. It's mostly in the defensive and neutral zone that he's figured out where to be without the puck, which is key in becoming an NHLer. The first couple of games he looked a little hesitant offensively, but last night he started making decisive plays, including one backhand pass from the corner to the front of the net that nearly resulted in a goal. It's an adjustment to get used to the speed at the NHL level, and once he does that, he'll probably have more success in terms of actual point production.
I have a good feeling about Agostino making the jump full time next year. Probably in a 3rd line role who can also do spot duty on the 2nd line.

I have also thought Agostino so far hasn't really stood out in any way positively. However, he hasn't stood out negatively either. Hoping he has more time up with the Flames so that perhaps we can see him get a bit more comfortable out there. Some kids come up and do really well for a short while, and then fizzle out. Some kids take more time to get comfortable before they start standing out positively. I am betting Agostino is the latter.

A couple things. I think there is a chemistry thing there. He looked like the odd man on the Backlund-Frolik line, but then made a few really heady plays some passes that resulted in scoring opportunities. I don't know what people expect of players coming up from the minors? With the defensive systems in place and the expectation of players to be responsible in their own zone first it is unlikely you are going to see any player step in and be a scoring threat or stand out in the offensive zone. I like what I see because of his play away from the puck. He makes good reads and he knows where to go on the ice to make space. There was a couple times last night where he was third man into the zone and skated his check away from the play to create open ice for his linemates. Very subtle play, but really important for a guy supporting two other guys expected to score.

So Frolik has 6 goals in 2 games and 8 in the other 55.
I'm hopeful that he'll be better settled in with a clear role next year and can maybe contribute a bit more offensively than he has this year, or at least be a more consistent point producer.
I'll admit that I'm not crazy about his contract, but I fully understand why it is as high and as long as it is. But he is at an age, where it's unlikely he'll score more in the future than he has in the past. If he can put up the point totals he's on pace for this year over a full season and be a bit more consistent in his scoring than that's an acceptable level of production.
You see the speed he showed two times tonight combined with the puck control and moves at the net, and it almost reminds me of Glencross where you wonder....why can't he do this more often? Although I fully qualify that I'm not comparing Frolik to Glencross, just some of that why can't you do this more often feeling. Frolik does appear to be more consistent in his effort, just not with his production.

I don't know if anyone else noticed - not sure if it was shown on TV or not - but at some point in the second someone was injured or something in the first row of the lower bowl in the corner. Not sure what happened but security and EMS was there. Looked like a dad and a young kid - maybe 7 years old. In any case, first the ref came over and threw a towel to the security guy (presumably to deal with some blood). And then shortly after Ferland skated over and tossed his game stick to the kid - huge cheers from the crowd in that section. I wish more people noticed in house because it was a pretty awesome gesture. I didn't see what happened or if it was to the kid or the dad but I was pretty impressed by Ferland.
Anyone else see this?
I saw that happen first hand as the puck hit my chin. Result was a couple of stitches and a night my son and I won't soon forget. Classy act by Ferland - my boys new favourite player.
