Why they're the best.

Unless they can find someone to take on Bickell or Scuderi they are pretty much out of those guys now. Unless they want to move Shaw.

Jets can have all the prospects they want...with their budget they will be developing many of them for other teams

Craig Button is a professional scout and former GM. He knows more about hockey than any HF writer by a wide, wide margin. I know some here think he's a clown but any article by him on prospects is infinitely more credible than any HF article.

The Jets made the right choice with trading Ladd. Ladd will not get anywhere near the contract the Jets were said to initially offer that he turned down. I get that the guy wanted out of Winnipeg but he is going to lose out on a lot of money.

We are better off without Ladd. Once the trade was made, the Jets started becoming a better team. Buff is the glue. Ladd was the divisive factor. Wheeler is the true captain. We fleeced Chicago in that trade. We gave up Ladd, who is past his prime, and a couple of minor league players, for future star Marko Dano, and a #22-23 overall Draft pick.
Thank you, Chevy!

Guilty.

I wonder if Ladd has taken a bit of a his in regards to his contract expectations. Wasn't he asking for 6 x $6.5 million from the Jets? That's laughable considering his age and the fact that he's a 50 point winger. I just can't see many teams entertaining anything close to those numbers.

People were raving about the Hawks moves at the trade deadline. Something to remember next year - getting the big fish or making some moves - doesn't mean you 'win' the trade deadline.

Reminds me of the Penguins the year that Iggy was traded. They loaded up but the team didn't quite gel, and they lost a lot of assets

Really though what did Iginla cost them? Klimchuk and Agostino. I doubt the Penguins have any regrets there as neither of those players would make their roster today. At the end of the day the trade was as much a bust for the Flames as it was the Penguins.

That's generally how the trade deadline works. Most buyers lose, it's known.
The Hawks lost 1st rounder and a decent prospect in Dano but when you're signing guys like Panarin in the off season f free you can make this moves.

Yeah, if anything the Hawks have too many assets, they turn them into gold and then they have to get rid of them.
