100% agreed. Trading a hall of famer for a bag of pucks is the reason Feast is not a GM anymore. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

I don't see this one as a direct comparable to Iginla since Ladd was nearly as restrictive in terms of where he's accept a trade.
The one that got me was the St. Louis trade, where Tampa got two firsts and another top 6 player for him and New York was the only destination. That one was the real kicker for how bad Feasters trade skills were.
Happy this is out of the way early though. Hudler is pretty much the best forward on the market now.

Did Ladd give the Jets a list of only four teams he would accept a trade to, then kibosh a deal with one of those teams at the 11th hour?

I wonder if any of the Ladd return will make it to the Islanders for Hamonic.

...But he was 36 year old pending UFA considered declining that would only accept a short list of teams. How much can you squeeze out? I agree. Better prospects could and should've been obtained. But he returned the 1st. I would've taken the Boston package over Pitts. I don't know why Jay didn't. Hell, he ended up there anyways.
Now the Jbo trade is a different story.

What competent GM allows that situation to happen in the first place? If Iginla gets you a list of 4 teams then you get him to waive the no move clause so those shenanigans don't happen. Made Feaster look completely incompetent but definitely made me think less of Iginla as well.

Who cares if Iggy was 36 and Ladd 30. Age is not an issue for a rental player. What matters is how they're playing THIS season. It's not like he Pens/Hawks were/are trying to sign them to long term contracts as a priority.

Comparing the Iginla trade to the Ladd trade is more on topic than 90% of the trades on here!

Excellent deal for the Jets.
The Hawks need to win the Cup for this to end up being a good deal for them.

Dano seemed to be in Q's permadoghouse, and was scuffling, even at the Rock...He didn't even get any mid-season looks to cover for injuries...and the picks are going to be LATE in the rounds...
So no vital prospects or picks are really going to Winnepeg...this is really a low risk deal for the 'Hawks.

And even if the Hawks don't win a cup and Ladd goes to free agency, how will they lose? They have 3 cups already. Everything they do from here on out is a bonus. Its teams that go all in, sacrifice their future and don't win a cup that are funny. But the Hawks? Yeah, they'll sit there having 'lost' this trade, stroking their 3 Stanley Cup rings.

Guess this means it's a no go for Hamhuis/Vrbata to the hawks.

Still a first round selection. Chacago is in win now mode, so to them no bigs. Good deal for both sides.

Chicago is permanently in "win Stanley cup now, but also rebuild at the same time because why the hell not?" mode.

Not sure we have that 1M in cap space available. Next year is verrry tight.

Just about everything that the Hawks touch turns to gold these days. It's unreal.
Many predicted that with the big changes they went through this off season, combined with the tough division they reside in, that they'd miss the playoffs this season. Yet there they are, right up at the top of the standings again and looking like the team to beat once again.
They've got one hell of a core, and one hell of a coach, that's for sure.
Of course, it doesn't hurt either that because they are perennial contenders they are able to nab "free-bees" like Panarin from time to time. That dudes on pace for 75 freakin points for crying out loud. Sure would have been nice to snag him for free wouldn't it have?

Roof...Panarin's deal is incentive laden...his incredible season will have a sal-cap bill

So Chicago trades a few more expensive secondary pieces for great returns to replenish the assets they lose in deadline deals.
Why they're the best.
