John Scott at the all star game? Gaudreau 14th in All Star fan voting

Despite the fact I think the world cup is gimmicky, I'm tuning in to watch the U23s because it's real HOCKEY. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_hockey
Hockey is 5 v 5.

Shinny is hockey. This isn't an even "get with the times" thing. Shinny is how 99% of hockey players grew to love the game of hockey. It's how a lot of hockey FANS grew to love the game of hockey.
People need to get over themselves and remember that it's a game. It's supposed to be fun. If hockey isn't fun for you or you're too busy pretending you're a "purist" then maybe it's not for you.
But hey, let's throw shade at something the NHL does for fun, for the fans, and for the kids because it's "just for money" or "not hockey."
Love the all-star game. Great to see players just having fun and putting on a highlight reel.
EDIT: Plus, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinny

I like watching the all star weekend too. But let's not pretend it's something it isn't.

I dunno, for me to see Gaudreau score 12 goals and lift the crappy Pacific Division to a tournament win despite having John Scott would be pretty cool to see. Obviously it's not real hockey but then neither is the Skills Competition but it's fun to see what some players can do in that environment.

7 Seasons as a Pro, almost 300 games played as an NHLer with 5 goals and 6 assists for 11 pts. Props to him for making it thus far, he must be doing something right that team's end up signing him even if only for a season. He must be one helluva fun guy to be around inside and outside of the locker room even if he isn't all that good.
I hope he does play in the all star.

Ha ha, that'd be awesome to see. To be honest, I'd tune in to watch Gadureau play darts, the guy is just too fun to miss. If you're a Flames fan, I don't know why you wouldn't tune in to watch Gaudreau play 3 on 3.

I don't think anyone is saying OMG 3 on 3 sucks so bad, I'll never ever watch that.
I won't speak on behalf of other posters, but all I am saying is the All Star weekend is just a fun little hockey weekend full of things for families and gimmicky skills comps, including the game itself. There is nothing wrong with that, but don't pretend it's something that it isn't. I don't want to beat a dead horse because I really don't have strong feelings about the all star weekend one way or the other, but if it's all about fun, then who cares if the fans are having fun trolling the NHL.

Well that's actually what I was saying and you were disagreeing with but hey! We're on the same page now! Welcome to the club.
RE: voting. Does anybody think JH doesn't make it? I mean, it'd be nice if he beat John Scott, but he's going to that game regardless.

This fan doesn't pay much attention to All-Star games. The only NA major sport where the game even resembles a competition is Baseball, and even that has been wrecked by assigning WS scheduling to it to try to make it relevant.
I've always felt sorry for goaltenders and Defensive emphasis players...no chance to "play their game" at an AS exhibition.

Johnny is so deserving that this John Scott nonsense is really bothering me.
I guess I'll just keep voting.

and to disrespect Johnny who's set the record for most OT points in a season that we're not even half way through and who's been dominating 3 on 3. A vote for Scott right now is taking away the prestige from Johnny.
Johnny is the perfect player for 3 on 3 and it would be good if fans from around the league took some notice of him and the rest of the Flames.
A vote for Scott may be "the cool thing to do" or your way of "sticking it to the NHL" but at the same time, you're taking away from Johnny at the same time.

It'd be nice if Johnny got the most votes, it's a bit of a pat on the back as recognition of being that dominant at 3 on 3. It'd be even better if he could beat out a "fad" vote like Scott just because he's that good.

I don't think Johnny cares about prestige and all star games.
He cares about W's and Cups.

Do you know for sure? It may be the cool thing not to care but I know I sure as heck would would. It's an honor to make it to the all star game, especially for the young guys. It's even more of an honor to be the guy with the most votes.
I just think that he deserves any and all recognition he can get. The guy is unreal, it's like an instant win if it goes to 3 on 3 when he's on the ice.

I don't know for sure, but a natural competitor would concern himself with real competition. Not a lolly-gag shinny tournament. Even when the allstar game is 5 on 5 it's just a bunch of guys lolly-gagging out there.
Johnny strikes me as a competitor.
I would be willing to bet that most players would rather have no all star game at all and just have a weekend off mid-season.
