I'm too nervous to watch much of the Vancouver or Winnipeg games so I've been switching between Boston vs Florida and Ottawa vs Detroit.
Things aren't going well for Ottawa with OT looming in Boston and they are trailing Detroit 1-0. Shots are 25-9 for Ottawa though, Mrazek is surprisingly playing great.

I see now what you're saying, but it's still wrong. The difference is across all goalies. The more common deployment is the starter plays the first game, the backup plays the second - so it's already skewed AGAINST the rested goalie if you assume that backups generally have the lower save percentage.
Where you're quite right - if not on the numbers but just in terms of common sense - is if your backup is just terrible, and your starter's a Vezina candidate, you might think twice. If you're running a tandem of Carey Price / Anders Lindback, well...
Then there's the fact that you do have to rest your starter SOMEtime, and it might as well be a game where he's statistically likely to be considerably worse than usual - opportunity cost.
I'm not saying there aren't circumstances where it's a good idea, but your particular chart doesn't support the point your were trying to make.

Ott's only down a goal. They can still pull this out, but I agree if they lose it's pretty much dream over which is really too bad.
EDIT: On the other hand, can you imagine if LA and BOS are the 8th seeds in each conference? What an awful year to take first place.

C'mon Preds. C'mon Rags.
Pylon sacrificed his colon so you could bring home victory.

Hayes hits the post with a few seconds left in the game. Absolute heartbreaker for Florida.

Not mathematically out of it yet and they still play the Bruins again. Problem is, they play the Hurricanes, and then the Lightning and Canadiens before meeting Boston, ending the season playing New Jersey. All 5 games are at home though.

Ottawa still has a great chance to win this game but they will somehow have to find a way past a red hot Mrazek. They are definitely done if they can't come back in this one.
It would be too bad if they missed after such an amazing winning streak only to go cold while Boston starts winning again.
