"Police say the shooter is on roof of building at Metcalfe and Sparks 1 block from Parliament Hill #ottnews #cbcot"
I don't know Ottawa at all so it's hard for me to stay on top of this but anything I find I'm posting and I'll delete the garbage later.
Reports of shots fired at a hotel somewhere in the area, possibly a separate incident.

Just heard on CBC Radio: the Canadian Forces have advised all active members nation-wide to stay in their homes for their own safety.

Because the anti-government conspiracy nutters are short on execution and usually follow groups. They also talk. They talk about taking down governments from their militia groups with training grounds and they attack a lot of people to join which is bad for security.
Also because everyone loves a winner, and right now ISIS I'm sorry to say is going to win that battle due to resolve are inspiring.
I would argue that they're not the same thing, ISIS is fairly organized and frankly has a good handbook.
They also unlike these conspiracy and anti government crazies that have this glorious vision of bringing down the government. These people are committed to a cause and vision that can only be bought about through intimidation, and violence and murder.
Basically Al Queda's handbook after 9/11 became flawed because they were a large group with cells and structures and centralized communication.
This is basically a recruitment concept. You find the vulnerable and lonely and crazy and you fill their heads up with bullsh%t and martyrdom, you don't give them a plan or funding or talk to them again after you set them loose.
Anyways this might not be the time to talk about this.

They are now playing that heavy gunfire video on CBC so no need to worry about losing it again.
A few extra police and Alberta Sheriffs cars are outside the Legislature here in Edmonton, for what it's worth.

Unconfirmed reports of two active shooters, one on foot, and one on motorbike. Globe and mail also reporting (unconfirmed) that a 2nd soldier has been shot. Still unconfirmed.

No news on the Soldier, and I doubt we'll here until after this is over. All we can do is hope for the best.

To recap:
^ Where the first soldier was shot.
Dutch witness reports at least 4 shots were fired at him. Weapon reportedly a double barrel shotgun. Soldier's condition unknown.
30-50 shots fired inside Parliament as shown in the video. Likely the exchange that killed at least one suspect. Unknown if law enforcement injured in this exchange.
Unconfirmed reports of two more suspects still on the loose.
Police reporting 3 separate shooting incidents - CTV. #1, The solider, #2 would be the 30-50 shots inside, and #3 is a possibly unrelated incident at Rideau Center (mall?) - Reddit. Trying to find more on that.

This is unreal. Don't know what to say
Concerning for our soldiers that they're recommending they all stay indoors across Canada

I've been told from a reservist here in Calgary that similar measures were being planned in response to the incident in Quebec as of last night. I assume this has accelerated that.
