#Flames Bennett: “I didn't think it was that big of a deal. I guess it's a bigger deal than I thought.”

Bad decision, should have just rested it in the first place, now he's paying for it.

oh come on, he is a young player. Young players who have the desire to play will do anything to play, he has learned that maybe it wasn't the right decision and I am sure he won't do it again. You can't fault him. This isn't a terrible thing, he will get the chance to heal while staying up with the Flames. The longer he is here the better IMO.
I'm just sad he won't be at the WJC.

He's a young kid and I don't think there's any chance the Flames hold this against him but in most other contexts withholding previous shoulder issues would be grounds for voiding the contract.
Hopefully he makes a full recovery and the silver lining may very well be that if he did not play last year with a shoulder issue, he would have been the clear #1 pick and we would have missed out on him.

Shows the type of warrior we got. Hands down he will be a star and the best of this draft class.

Absolutely. The way he performed in camp this year was amazing and he was at far below 100% healthwise.

Pretty horrible news but like others have said better to get it fixed now while he's young and before it becomes a recurring issue.

This shoulder issue actually answers a few questions! This possibly makes a little more sense.

I'm going to keep pretending he faked it so the Oilers wouldn't draft him.

Interesting...does that mean he would also be able to do a conditioning stint in Addy as part of rehab? Or is he still only allowed to play games in the NHL still?

Rookie mistake. But what about his agent...IF that guy knew about a nagging injury and IF he didn't instruct his client properly re: full disclosure, then he's crap.

Kid's young and should bounce back quickly though.
Does this mean he'll get a few months collecting an NHL salary on the IR? That is fricken sweet for him, though I imagine he'd rather be playing hockey.

He could be assigned to Adirondack for up to 14 days as a conditioning stint. But unless the Flames intended to bring him back up to Calgary after, there wouldn't be any point. He'd have a far easier time getting up to game speed against junior players than he would pros.
Though if Sportsnet isn't just being melodramatic, it may be a moot point. They are speculating that he's done for the year if he goes under the knife.

On one hand I admire the courage and drive of the kid.
On the other, I'm pissed off and disappointed. Not mad. Just disappointed...

This may actually be a blessing in disguise as he probably would have made the team otherwise, he's that good.
The Flames will get a better draft pick due to his absence from the lineup.
He'll be a force once he's healed up with his injuries behind him and, hopefully, the Flames will have another high pick to add to the fold with him.
