Get the surgery, take the proper time to heal it and rehab it so it is not an issue down the road. Sucks but get it fixed now.

Without knowing anything except Bennet has been to a few doctors i don't know how McKenzie could say he won't make the junior team. If it is just something like a torn rotator cuff my brother just rehabbed his in ~2 months with no surgery. Which would leave him time to warm up and hit up the training camp. Is the competition pretty stiff this year for forward at the world juniors?

If he rehabs it as a flame, then even though he is not AHL elligible, can he not do a post recovery conditioning stint in the AhL, then get his 9 games at the NHL prior to being sent back to Juniors?

He's lucky to have recovered in 2 months - a bad tear can take seemingly forever.

Worst case scenario. Haven't taken much interest in the World Juniors for years. Was looking forward to this years just to see Bennett play. Eff bomb.

Really only sucks for WJ watching. Get it done now, rehab and be ready to go.
Better than the Poirer scenario of missing the summer, camp and first part of the season.

Ya to be fair hockey probably has more high impacts on the shoulder and my brothers might of been more of a gradual wear down.

I guess it's about 4 or 5 months rehab if he gets the operation?

I disagree with both of these statements. It sucks for his development, and the second part causes more playing time to be missed. Which makes it worse.

Not that it makes a difference but just curious, does he get paid an NHL salary?

Sucks for him, sucks for Canada, sucks for Kingston, was looking forward to keeping tabs on his development down in the ohl and especially watching him at the worlds.
The thing about the world juniors is even if he is back close to Christamas he may not be in game shape to the point that Canada would want to take him.

Bummer, wish he could have had the surgery at the end of last season and rehabbed through the summer. Hopefully everything goes well from this point on though and he can see some ice before this season is over.

If he can produce 118 points in 57 games with a bad shoulder think what he could do when healthy.

Did Virtanen have a similar surgery? If so, he was to be out 4-6 months. Looks like Bennett can join Kingston for a playoff run.

I hope they go the surgery route and get him all fixed. If he loses some development time it won't be the end of the world as it's not like his skill is going anywhere and it's not like he's really going to be a big contributor for this team until his early 20's. He's still got plenty of time to develop.

What I don't get is if this was a problem from his junior year, how did we not pick this up during the pre-draft medicals (a bad move)? Or did we, and still opt to draft him (an understandable move)? It seems like Hartley made it sound like they would have liked to have known about this sooner so it sounds like it's the former. UGH!!
