yeah he had knee surgery ahead of the World Cup, but came back earlier than expected and played in the World Cup. After the Hargreaves fiasco, I'm sure they'll take a good look at it, but afaik it's not expected to be a chronic injury.

Jones may be, but they need to stop moving him around and just play him at CB

not a huge fan of Rafael, but considering the state of RB in the league he's probably in the top 6-8

Evans, Smalling.

Not a matter of being quite good as that is pretty hard to tell given a combination of them not getting much consistent time at CB due to Rio and Vidic coupled with most of them being injury prone as hell particularly Jones who I have never seen anyone with as big a knack for injuring themselves.

Still think Coleman should have been snapped up.

Arturo Vidal will not be joining Manchester United according to Giuseppe Marotta, the Juventus chief executive officer, who has stated that the Chilean is “not for sale” and is content at the club. The move from Marotta to clarify the midfielder’s position would seem to confirm Vidal will remain at Juventus.

That's that. Wonder how that affects Evra's move.

well, what did you expect Marotta to say at the presser? "Dear Juve fans, sorry about letting Conte go. But hey, here's the new coach! We know most of you don't want him, but he's here anyway. Oh and by the way, we'll also sell one of our best players! Have a nice day!"

Marotta was always going to say at this presser that they don't want to sell Vidal, everything else would have been public suicide.

Think Vidal is half of the situation though.

With Prandelli resigning and with Conte being the manager darling in Italy right now, he likely knows this is his best opportunity to coach the National Team.

It's not that he's saying that they don't want to sell Vidal which would leave some doubt but he's saying a more emphatic that he's not for sale which suggests an air of finality.
So, the way I'm reading it is that he's backed himself into a corner with that statement and the only way out is to sell and say that Vidal wanted it.

yup, which is a good strategy for them at this point. Juventus fans are already furious at the club for various reasons (no transfer budget, Conte leaving, Allegri being the new coach, missing out on Iturbe), so IF they sell Vidal now, they can play the "he forced the transfer" card and deflect the outrage onto the player. Some clubs do it all the time ... just look at Bilbao (Martinez, Llorente, Herrera).

How are you sure it's not Kroos that doesn't rate United?

there's been rumblings that Moyes worked hard for months on that deal and that Kroos was interested, but the hiring of van Gaal pretty much ended that. When Van Gaal was at Bayern, he sent him on loan to Leverkusen back then and apparently he doesn't rate him.

Might it have more to do with the fact that Real won the CL last season and ManU arent even playing in it?

Not to mention, hes probably heard great things about Real Madrid from Khedira and then theres the fact that LvG is not exactly a name thats bandied about with much praise at Bayern.

Although for the reported 20M I really hope that Liverpool kicked his tires. How the hell do you land Toni Kroos for only 20M? Well, his fairly stiff wage demands would probably be the answer.

You alluded to it, then you shied away from it.

Money. United has it. Pool don't.

Lambert 5m
Lallana 25m
Markovic 25m
Can 10m

plus the Origi transfer for 10m should be finalized soon ... so the Suarez money is practically gone already.

Well Markovic was 25 million Euros, not pounds, and reports from Liverpool and Bournemouth (who had the 25 percent sell on clause) said Lallana was closer to 20 mil.

Still big numbers, but it's tough to get quality for much less then that, especially if you're buying English.

I'm really hoping the Paulinho to Juventus for £20m rumours actually have some merit.
